Detailed product description

The 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard is the most iconic electric guitar of all time. Beginning with an initial production of only 650, this fabled guitar somehow found its way into the hands of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Duane Allman, and many more renowned players. Now, 60 years later, Gibson celebrates the legacy of this Les Paul with original 1959 design features, vintage specs perfected by the Gibson Custom Shop, and monumental Custombucker Alnico III unpotted pickups. This guitar is for the player that wants to own a legend which sits at the pinnacle of electric guitar craftsmanship. Original 1959 Design Features The Gibson Custom Shop 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Standard is not merely a tribute to a classic guitar - it's a flawless clone. Gibson's Custom Shop spent countless years obtaining laser scanned dimensions of the original design, chemically replicating plastics, and perfectly matching color schemes, to design what is, by their own admission, the best historic reissue yet. This Les Paul Standard features a 1-piece lightweight mahogany back and a 2-piece figured maple top with hide glue fit. The guitar is lightweight, comfortable, and showcases the beautiful cut of maple on top, all while affording timeless resonance. The neck is cut from solid mahogany into an authentic '59 medium C-shape, so playing it even feels like 1959. Vintage Specs Perfected by the Gibson Custom Shop Every aspect of this guitar was pored over to make sure it was dead-on like the original. The fretboard is a gorgeous cut of Bolivian rosewood and is fit with hide glue. It boasts 22 frets and aged cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays in classic Gibson style. The bridge is a no-wire ABR-1 paired with a lightweight aluminum stop bar. Just beneath that are very cool butyrate gold top hats. The headstock sports the one-of-a-kind Gibson logo, surrounded on each side with vintage-styled Kluson tuners. Every inch of this guitar is a site to behold. It even comes complete with a brown/pink Lifton reissue 5-latch hardshell case. Monumental Custombucker Alnico III Unpotted Pickups It doesn't just look like the original 1959 Les Paul Standard, it sounds like it too. Gibson's Custom Shop outfitted this axe with Custombucker Alnico III pickups at the neck and bridge. They left them unpotted to be totally true to the original and obtain an accurate vintage sound. There's a volume and tone control for each pickup, wired with CTS 500K audio taper potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors. All of these intricate design features give the electronics on this '59 Les Paul Standard a powerful, authentic sound you'll immediately fall in love with.
