I love my goal zero 500,!!!!!! Even though I live in the city or country I am trying to get my house as much off grid as possible. I use the 500 in my bedroom and I use it for my lighting. I also take it to work I'm a plumber by trade so I use it to charge up my batteries for all of my power tools. Usually at work somebody always comments what is that thing. I tell him and then I go into a big spiel about how I'm trying to get off grid as much as possible. By the end of the day usually when I'm on a new work site I end up with everybody's phones sitting on my tool cart and they're charging them up. It's really kind of funny everybody wants to know about it and I think a couple of people have inquired on how to get one they're not in the stores and it's really sad that more stores don't have them on the shelf. Really looking forward to get a larger unit.
Camping used to be guaranteed to mean bad sleep, headaches, and snoring to possibly attract Bigfoot. This powered my CPAP for 2 full nights of sleep and still had 10% of its battery left. I'm excited to take some more trips in the pop-up. It aint cheep, but it is worth it.
Purchased my Yeti 500x through Best Buy, and I am very happy with it. Although, I wish the price was lower, I would rather pay a little extra for peace of mind and a high quality product, with an outstanding costumer support. I use it to power/charge my laptop, phones, cameras, drone, Nintendo Switch, etc. And it does a fantastic job. The integrated MPPT charge controller is a beast!! I have a 175w solar panel and charges the Yeti 500x in NO TIME! It truly blows my mind how cool solar energy can be. Yesterday, we had a power outage (at night time) of a little over 5 hours and ran my wifi/modem with the Yeti 500x and had plenty of juice left to keep my phone charged at 100% and even ran a fan for multiple hours. I can't wait to get my hands on a Dometic fridge and run it with the Yeti 500x with the new regulated 12v port.
I had the old YETI 400 and the bigger ones (I can't remember the number) for many years and finally they were dying (after being in sun, rain, heat, everything). So time to buy a new one. Open Box purchase is a no brainer...I know Goal Zero would give a good one. And wow! This one weighs half of my old one but just as much power! I love it! Yeti's have really improved over so many years. But also goes to show how long they last...I didn't know they've shrunk without compromising on battery life. GREAT! Here's to another 10-15 years!
Versatility is convenient and that is what I get from the Yeti 500X. I owned two and when not using then at my camping adventures they are well use in my home office setting. Easy to use, and light to carry around is a nice addition as backup system or main source of power when in the outdoors. I connect 12V ceiling fans to it when working in my shed to power 4 fans, in my home office as a light source and when recharging my phone or power my laptop and printer, in my car camping outings to power lights, fans, recharging, and even to listen to music for long periods. I recharge then using home outlets or with solar panels. What else I can add, the way to go giving you mobility.
I bought this to remotely recharge my mountain bike (Specialized Turbo). I can get multiple charges going from 25% to 90% in a few hours. Easy to operate. No problems at all.
How many times they can charge their smart devices
The size is perfect for my overland trip it charges fast and keep my cameras and drone batteries plus laptop plus dometic fridge running all day and night long when I am running suit a 100 watts solar panel
This unit squeals while it's charging and does not charge effectively much of the time. I'm pretty disappointed that I spent so much on something that isn't what I wanted at all.
I had high hopes, but wish I had just paid full price to spare the trouble. I had no expectations regarding little scratches and packaging, but the rear charge port was non-functional and the LCD display had some faded areas. I sent it back, still don't have a replacement unit or real clear idea or confidence what to expect or when. I did try it out to charge it and see what I could charge with it and it seemed to be ok, but overall confidence is low.
