Thay are en great peocduct lournch by gopro
The only problem I have with these is how easily they scratch
They are a must to protect your camera lenses. The down side is that your footage will have a glare from the sun or car lights (at night)
The protective lens do protect the camera lens however they are easily scratched. I've tried handling my cameras with caution however even placing them very gently onto a countertop or desk can scratch the protective lens… and I don't lay my cameras down on the protective lens covers. I place my cameras down on their sides. I now wrap my cameras in a microfiber towel when not in use and that still doesn't prevent the protective lens covers from getting scratched. It's very annoying when I've put new protective lens covers on and later discover upon reviewing the footage that there's a small scratch right in the middle of my footage. The protective lens covers need to be made more durable. I'm replacing them too often… you probably can use times before a scratch appears. These are really only reliable for a one time use. I hope a better quality product becomes available soon. If I find a better quality product I'll update this post.
As much as I love these protective lenses for the immediate protection they offer my GoPro Max, I absolutely hate the fact that they lower image quality but a noticeable degree. For example tags, and small details that you want to be more visible are cloudy and def hard to make out. When it's raining, it gets foggy on the inside of the lens and completely cuts out visibility on any of the footage.
I love all of my GoPro cameras but the 360 take adventure footage to the next level. The downside is that the lens scratches very easily and you have to replace the whole camera to fix. These protective lenses are great in some climates and adventures but they get condensation on the inside and ruin your shots. Sometimes the condensation is so subtle you wont notice it until you're editing.
Truth: anything bumps these “protective” lenses and they will scratch or crack making it impossible to get good footage with the lens of the camera. Also, everything smudges and sticks to this camera making the lens fog or have spots during recording, so, if you are filming in a situation that requires a protective lens, this may in fact protect your lens, but you wont get any good filming in.
Lenses are not removable, there is a allot of better options for 360 cameras, especially at this price point, this was a miss, #session13
I run these protectors on GoPro Max while Mountain biking mounted on a chesty support. They protect the lenses from any serious harm, but they always get lowered and the images are really bad.
I've had them for a day and it instantly scratched. Didn't realize it was scratch significantly and wrecked all my footage. The water droplets also wrecked it. Wouldn't recommend putting these on at all.
