I found the Gorilla Playset to as good as advertised. The materials were of excellent quality and we were only shorted two (2) carriage bolts. The cost of the two (2) bolts was $2.32; but we end up with about forty (40) nuts and bolts extra. The actual assembly was very simple. The step-by-step manual was perfect. Just always keep things level and square; and don't do the final tighten on some parts to soon. Our daughter loves the playset and we couldn't be more pleased.
My son and his wife put this together in about 8 hours with the help (?) of a 7 and 9 year old and a 3 month old baby. They had 1 useable damaged board (didn't want to wait for a replacement)and 2 lag screws were missing (easily replaced) . My son said it was very easy to put together. Hardest part was getting the lumber out of the box, getting the pieces sorted out, making sure the kids didn't rearrage the pieces and keeping the baby quite. Kit doesn't include the tire for the swing-which is not hung yet-kids want a sand box in that spot. (If the tire was included, I would have given this playset 3 5 star ratings) This playset is extremely sturdy and very well designed, worth every penny. I would recommend this set for your backyard. The info below relates to my son and his wife who put this together for my grandsons.
Great product, plus great value...easy to follow instructions...quality materials...took three of us 6 hours to assemble...no parts missing...grandchild LOVES it!!!
After researching many different swingsets, I decided on this one, and I have to say this is well worth the money for it's quality and durability. It exceeded my expectations from the moment we opened the boxes and looked at the lumber and all the accessories. The directions were easy to follow. I read that it should take on average, 2 men 8 to 10 hrs. to complete. It took my husband, (who owns a vast tool assortment), and 1 other guy 7 hrs. to put together. I am sooooo impressed and happy with the choice I made. My daughter is 3 1/2, and so far she likes to climb the ladder, play on the platform, go down the slide and use the swings. She's a little leary of the rope ladder and the rock wall yet, so this swing set leaves quite a few yrs. for her to grow with and play on yet. Her father and I even swing and the whole entire set didn't even move a inch. We made sure it was as level as possible without doing any digging, and it sits perfectly. All pieces seem to be very heavy duty and very well made and durable. We ALL love this swingset, and would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase one!!
I researched like crazy for weeks trying to find just the right playset for my kids. I wanted one that wouldn't fall apart in a few years, would be safe for them to play on, and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. I found it in this amazing set! At first I was leery buying it from Walmart, because I wasn't sure if the quality would be the same as buying it from a store that specializes in playsets or directly from the manufacturer. But, I am happy to say that the quality is incredible! My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE it, and I feel confident that they are safe! I know that many of the other reviewers talked about how difficult it was to put together. I was worried about this, since my husband is very computer savvy, but not incredibly handy. So I had a professional assemble it and it only took an hour and a half!!! If you are in the NJ, NY, CT, PA, DE area I highly recommend Dan's Swingset Installation Services. I couldn't be happier that I chose this playset! I highly recommend it!
I was worried about how the assembly of this play set would go, but things went quite smoothly. We had a crew of 3-4 people working off and on through the day and managed to whole project start to finish in about 9 hours. I am especially impressed with the hardware included with the set. Everything is heavy duty and top quality. All the lumber was excellent as well. My three year old and all the neighborhood kids play on the set daily (even in the rain), and it's a struggle to get them to come in. The design is very sturdy and doesn't need anchors--this also makes it easier to assemble. Here are a few tips that helped assembly go smoothly. 1. If at all possible, use an impact wrench. Driving all the large carraige bolts will go SO much faster with this tool. 2. Count and sort all the hardware and lumber ahead of time. We sorted the lumber by length and found that to be helpful. Our set included all the needed hardware, but I would count just to be sure since other have reported missing parts. 3. We did make a run to the local hardware store to pick up 5/8 X 4 1/2" hex bolts (16-18 thread count) since the 4" bolts included were just not quite long enough. 4. If possible, have more than one power drill available since multiple people can be working with them at once. We also found a step ladder very useful. 5. Read the entire instruction booklet. We followed the instructions precisely and everything went smoothly. In fact, the few times we didn't heed the instructions, we had to go back and fix what we'd done!
After doing extensive research in the 1k price range, I found this set to be the best. It took 3 men as worker-bees and myself (reading directions) to put this together in 6 hours. Make sure you get yourself organized before starting to build the set. Make sure you have the right tools. The guys used some kind of electric screwdriver/hammer tool that seem to really speed things up. My kids love it and play on it for hours. My kids ages are 3.5 and 5. I think they will love it for years to come. Oh, and I like that you can go to gorilla.com's website and do additions to the the swing set. We may just add on next year!
We searched (and searched) the internet and some play-set showrooms before deciding on this set for our children (ages 3 and 4 1/2)and we could not be more pleased! For the price, we feel we received a high quality set that will last for years. The wood is thick and strong, very heavy set. It has so much for the kids to play on: the tire swing is great and not all sets have them. We purchased add-ons (A glider swing & half-bucket swing, because our kids are smaller.) We figure the kids will use the trapeze when they get bigger and we have the 2nd belt swing for when our younger child grows out of the bucket swing. This is a set they will not outgrow too soon. Although it has been up for less than 24 hours it has already been in use for a few hours and I know the kids will use it every day, weather-permitting. Assembly: 2 of us (non-handy people, while watching our kids) and a 3rd very handy person had it done in the course of a day (under 12 hours.) It could be done in less time if not watching the little ones :-) TIPS:1)Inventory your hardware and parts 2) Inventory and check all lumber. We sorted the lumber and labeled each stack of like items, or singles with post-it notes & sharpie--it really helped 3) Have the right tools: an impact wrench is ESSENTIAL--I can not imagine trying to do this with a manual , the wood is very thick! Also, a strong/impact drill is beneficial. We had a weaker drill to drive in the wood screws and would need to pre-drill pilot holes, but with the impact drill we powered through and it really saved time. 4) Read the instructions:(Obviously, I know, but so important)Take the time to read through all of the steps briefly beforehand and then read each step all the way through before starting that step. The instructions --for the most part--are clear, well-written and easy to follow.
I did alot of research on the internet looking for a swingset. I've seen the almost exact swingset in other stores for $1000 more. You get alot for the money. Shipping was half the cost than in other stores too. All the wood & parts were labeled so that made assembly much easier. None of the parts were missing. It took my husband a few days to put it together. He worked on it a few hours each day. It took him a total of 8-12 hours to get it together. The wood is sturdy and not flimsy at all. My son loves it! The tire swing is a hit with the kids. The ONLY negative thing I have to say about the swingset is the cedar wood chips and knicks very easily. I'm going to buy some wood putty and redwood stain & sealer to touch it up. Other then that we are very pleased!
I spent a long time researching which Playstructure to purchase. I decided on this Gorilla Sundance because of the reviews and the price. We are not disappointed at all! It took my husband and a friend about 7 hours to assemble. All the wood and hardware is clearly marked which made it a breeze to separate and assemble. Even our friend, who spent about $700 more for a Rainbow structure from Costco, was saying how much sturdier this one is. I swapped out a glider swing for the trapeze bar, and Im so happy I did! My 4 year old loves it! I highly recommend!
