I purchased this drum kit online, after reviewing several others that were similar but quite a bit more costly. Since I have never owned one I thought If I didn't like it or didn't meet up to expectations I would not have lost a lot of money. Boy was I surprised when I got it, the hardware was really good, the foot pedal was heavy duty and the drums more than met up to expectations! I had a difficult time tuning the bass drum end and the tom since they are one but I think I finally got the sound I was looking for. I did replace the snare with a 10" from Guitar Center and I replaced the cymbals with a higher end ride and high-hats. I play in a blues band and the rooms are smaller and it sounds great, the looks I get when I play are really cool as most people have never seen a drum kit as this. The sound is great and it's a great buy for the cost, I have fun playing them and recommend them to others who are looking to add to their existing kits.
The box this instrument came in was a little torn up , but it was packaged well enough it was in good shape. Although I am a musician and normally would purchase a more quality instrument, it's made well enough for the occasional use, which is why I bought it.
If you don't have too much space at home but you love to play drums this is the way to go. I can take it with me to play with my friends, it is practical and easy to put together. It fit in a corner of my house and I can play it better using a tall chair. I have to say that is not too loud what make it perfect for a quiet jazzy and not crazy noisy player the best option.
Although it takes a little getting used to standing while playing, you'll find this set plays very well. The drums came tuned fairly well and, even with the stock heads, a little touch up gave a good sound. The demi snare is a surprise - nice 'woody' crack, good response and snare action - great little drum! The tom already had a good pitch with decent sustain. For the floor tom/bass drum, I tuned the batter head (bottom) lower than the top so I ended up with a nice difference between the top (floor tom) and the bass. The cymbals are actually okay. The crash/ride is a bit dark, but works fine. Striking it closer to bell brightens it up. If you're looking for an easy kit to gig/rehearse with - buy this set! For a ridiculous low price, the hardware is decent and hard to go wrong on it.
Haven't played out with this yet, but it SEEMS like a good kit - considering it's an import. I was really impressed with the double chain kick pedal! The only thing I didn't like was the box/packaging. The thing was open at the seams and it looked like someone tried to tape it back together - they need to work on that! Not bad for the price.....
