I recently purchased the Great Value Mandarin laundry detergent when the price of Tide jumped to over $14 a bottle. I'm impressed to far. We have 3 kids under eight who make laundry a constant challenge. We use an HE washer so our choices can be limited depending on the store. I've used an entire 50oz. bottle so fat and I'll try to update this review.
I've used almost all of my huge bottle of this detergent, but I really don't know if I will buy it again. In fact, I just bought my previous brand again. The Great Value detergent is too dang thick. I don't know whether I got a bottle from a bad lot or what, but it takes forEVer to get the Great Value detergent out of the bottle and into the measuring cup. No amount of loosening the screw cap or tilting the bottle solves the issue. It takes more than twice as long to get the needed amount as it does with other name-brand detergents I've used. I've had to resort to using the screw-cap end instead of the push-button dispenser because it takes so long, and that big bottle is HEAVY! I like saving money with this detergent and have no problems with it other than the thickness; as far as I can tell, it cleans as well as anything else I've used, and I have a 3-year-old. But frankly, I don't want to stand there for nearly an entire minute, waiting for the dang cup to fill to the line. Yeah, it's just a minute, but I DO have better things to do! I don't know if the savings are worth the aggravation. If the manufacturers ever thin it out a bit, I might try it again.
