Dear Walmart, do NOT shrink your items. Raise the price instead. It's actually irresponsible and bad for the environment, since smaller quantities of product require a larger proportion of packaging per ounce. Keep this item 32 ounces. It's been 32 ounces for 40 years, keep it that way. (Please like this review so Walmart might actually see it.)
We like Great Value brand of preserves and have switched to them exclusively having used Smucker's previously. Our reason for switching was price, we felt that after trying the Great Value brand when it first came out we couldn't really tell much of a difference in taste... and so we decided to make the switch as we have with so many other products over the years. And we find now that even when Smucker's goes on sale, unless it costs less than the Great Value- we just stick with the Great Value brand preserves.
I usually buy the Top Foods house brand of strawberry preserves for $3.69. These are just as good & are $.77 cheaper. I like my strawberry preserves to taste GOOD, so if the taste wasn't there, I wouldn't buy them no matter how much cheaper they are. They are definitely a bargain. They may not be as tasty as Smuckers but for the price & the taste they are worth saving a few pennies on.
The Plastic jar with cobination metal seal/plastic lid is getting very difficult to open after the first opening.
The preserves are OK. A bit hard to spread, but my family likes the flavor. Unfortunately they have switched from glass jar to plastic and reduced volume by 2oz. We switched to this with the goal of reducing our plastic consumption. So switching to another.
The new metal and plastic lid is a pain, very hard to break loose at first open, doesn't seem to seal well afterwards. Also, new container is 30 oz vs old was 32 oz for same price (shrinkflation). The product itself seems pretty much the same.
product was pureed and therefore cannot be considered to be preserves; it is more like a jam. no preservation whatsoever of the original fruit.
Strawberry jelly is this family's fav for our sammies. I was getting ready to make lunch hoping Walmart delivery would be here in time and to my surprise it was. After getting everything out to make the sammies I opened the delivery box taking out the jar of jelly and saw it was smashed with small shards of glass falling everywhere. Being it was sold and shipped by Walmart.com I figured I could go online to get a refund but nope they won't make it that easy for people even though clearly it was their fault it happened as the package needed better packaging. I'm told I need to bring it into the store for a refund but to do that I'm out my time %26 money for gas which means this cheaper jar of jelly is now costing me $7. So good luck if you order %26 have it shipped by Walmart.com I hope your luck is better then mine.
Ordered this item for shipping, it reverted to an order coming from my local store. The bottle of strawberry preserves was shattered. I sliced open my finger reaching into the bag. How could anybody think this a good idea to pack and then throw onto my porch. Nice job Walmart!
The amount of cornsyrup in this product is beyond disgusting. You have to fight the preserves out one at a time because it is so sugary. Wont spred on anything just sits there like a lump. Tastes like you put a tablespoon of granulated sugar in your mouth with each bite,
