This dehumidifier has been working great. We bought it to replace a small one we had and it's is performing beyond our expectations. You can set it to a desired humidity percentage and it will keep up.
We have a dampness issue in the basement where our laundry room is located. For many years we have used a dehumidifier to solve this problem. We recently had to replace the old one and chose this Haier unit for the task. This unit is heavier than the prior one, but is on wheeled so it is easy to move around. It started immediately and within a few days it was collecting water out of the air. It was easy to remove the water container and pour out the water. It is relatively quiet while working and sounds like an air conditioner unit. I am quite pleased with it's function thus far. As for durability, time will tell, but it feels quite solid and well built.
The unit works great. I use it in the basement with another dehumidifier, which has a red float to show water level, which this one doesn't have. I wish this one had a way to see the water level easier. Because it doesn't, I use the hose.
I was looking to replace an 2 year old dehumidifier that quit working and started researching best recommendations. There were none available in my area so I found the Haier while visiting Sam's Club online and purchased it. It is a great dehumidifier, really does the job in keeping my basement humidity in check! And one of the best things is how quiet it is!! I am so happy I was able to find a great product. Happy customer here!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the year I have purchased numerous dehumidifiers for our basement; living in the mid west there is always so much moisture in the air. This is honestly by far one of the best dehumidifiers I have ever had. I absolutely love how easy this is to empty but I really like the huge 50 pint tank, because it requires less emptying than the previous ones I have owned. I also love the LED digital controls with 3 fan speeds and smart dry, which automatically adjusts the fans speed based on the level of humidity it detects. So far there is not one thing about this dehumidifier that I do not like. From it being completely preassembled with wheels already attached to the delayed timer I can turn on to the bucket alarm letting me know when the tank is full. I would definitely recommend this dehumidifier to anyone who is in the market for one as this one will absolutely not disappoint.
Our basement was so very humid, with all the rain and humidity this past summer, so much that our old unit never brought the humidity down below 75%. On the first week of our new unit humidity is down to 40%. What a difference in the entire house that has made.
I've had a number of dehumidifiers over the years. This Haier model is the most efficient one I've had to date. It is quiet and flawless. I run it on the smart dry mode with a drain hose right into the sump. Would recommend it to anyone.
Just powered up a new 50 pint Haier and it is remarkable how much more water it pulls out of the same room as the old unit it has replaced. The variable speed fan works as advertised, tapering off as the ambient conditions dry out. I guess these units deteriorate, but I am hoping I get more than a few years out of this one. Earlier dehumidifiers from the 1980s had lasted more than 20 years in nearly continuous duty here, same location, same conditions.
I was disappointed... the gravity drain port is in a housing on the side of the machine, making it difficult to secure a hose and difficult to position the unit, as that is the only side that can face out. It works, but after being on for a few hours, it makes a strange noise like it's going to die. I wanted to use it in my living room, but ultimately put it in my basement.
Even though it's energy star rated, the electric bill went way up! It's also too noisy to have in the same room with people. The wheels help when moving to peopleless rooms.
