This Waffle maker does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is easy to use if you follow directions. I used the Great Value Waffle Mix and served delicious waffles. Clean-up was so easy with the removable grids. the folding handle makes it much easier to store.
The Hamilton Beach Flip Belgian Waffle Maker makes the perfect waffles. The Grids are divided into four triangle sections and they are about 2 inches thick, depending on how much batter you use. If you overfill the Grids, there is a drip tray to catch any spills, and the tray is also removable. It has 1,2,3 settings and when the desired heat is met, the light will turn green. The Grids can be removed and washed, a great feature. You can use the handle to flip over the Grids to have a more even cook. The frozen waffles does not compare to the real deal.
This waffle iron is easy to use and you get perfect waffles that are crispy outside and fluffy inside.
This product is a great compromise between economy and performance. A commercial waffle iron cost up to 200 bucks, but this little thing makes your waffles just as well as any more expensive alternative for a fraction of the cost. It takes about 3 minutes to get a great crispy on the outside soft and fluffy on the inside waffle. I'm very pleased.
After reading sooo many reviews, I settled on the Hamilton Beach Flip Waffle maker. When I got it, I read the instructions and followed them. I sprayed PAM on the removable grids and wiped them down. Then I made my batter the night before and put in the fridge. The next morning I made my first batch and believe me it came out better than a restaurant. I was amazed. The next morning I made batch #2 and they came out better than the first batch. The book says each time it gets better. I can't wait for the next time I make them. Price and quality from Hamilton Beach. KUDOS to them as they continue to make great products.
So far so good! I have only used it once but the non-stick worked very well. Also, the grids remove for easy cleaning.....a big plus. The construction of the flipping mechanism seems a little looser than I expected but did not present a problem this first time. We'll see how it holds up over time. Right now, I am very pleased at the quality for the price!
I bought this particular waffle maker because the grids are removable and dishwasher safe. The other waffle iron I had worked great, but the grids were difficult to clean and started to leave dark specks on my waffles. Not sure if it was waffle debris or the no-stick surface. When making waffles with this iron, the handle would hang up when rotating. It stuck several times so I had to return it. Not sure if I got a bunk iron or if it is an Inherent flaw in the design.
As per instructions I brushed cooking oil on the grids. Waffles stuck and pulled apart. Then sprayed Pam. Waffles stuck after the first one. I had the heat on the highest setting and the waffles continued to be undercooked in the middle, stuc, and pulled apart. Took the unit back. Save your money
First waffle did not brown well and was a bit flat. They indicated in literature that browning would improve on subsequent waffles. 2nd one was better on the browning and reasonable as was the 3rd waffle that day. Using waffle mix from Sams club and waffle next day stuck and came apart. Third day I used it I oiled the non stick again per instructions and waffle was again bit flat and not brown. I eat waffles every day and purchased this one for the removable grids. However, due to removable grids, warm up time is excessive since heater is not attached to grid. And end product is barley acceptable. Probably will throw it in the trash. I have used Waring Pro before and my only complaint with them is I wear them out in couple years.
The covering will burn you once it gets up to temp which eliminates kids making their own Waffles. It cooks unevenly with front cooking hotter than back. Even set to 3 min which was plenty enough for my old waffle iron, the Waffles came out soft and doughy. I tried a thinner batter and thicker batter with the same results. 4 min wasn't enough even. I will be going back to my old waffle maker. Was just looking for an iron easier to clean. The handle is made super cheaply and the whole iron is hard to flip over and back very stiff. I'm afraid it's gonna break and it just came out of the box.
