Loving this rice cooker! It was simple to set up straight out of the box. It cooks rice evenly and doesn't dry out. It keeps the rice warm after cooking which is an excellent feature. Rice doesn't come out watery or dry but rather fluffy and makes a perfect addition to our dinner plates! I love the features. You can use this to steam food or as a slow cooker! I decided to start off simple with a big batch of white rice. The instructions were very easy to follow. The packaging was also very appealing. I love that t is versatile in that you can use it to make much more than just rice. For being such large quantity producing the rice cooker itself is still very compact and fits perfectly on my kitchen counter. The handle is an additional plus for easy transporting which is major when working in big quantities. When I made a full meal with the cooker I didn't expect it to also help tenderize/cook the item faster than normal. My old rice cooker would have to be reset twice to fully cook which was inconvenient. This one was perfect, I was able to set it and get my daily chores done without needing to adjust it. I received my Hamilton Beach Premium Rice Cooker and immediately wanted to use it! I normally cook my rice in a pot on the stove. I always deal with it being too wet or not enough water and I deal with it sticking to the bottom of the pot, but after using the rice cooker all those mistakes were completely gone and it just scoops right out. It cooks just the right amount of time and makes it perfect! I thought it was going to be difficult cleaning and keeping it clean. I was so wrong! It is so simple to take the main parts off and clean them and put it all right back together. Not only does it cook rice but it also steams and does so much more! I purchased the Hampton Beach Rice Cooker at Walmart, and am thrilled with it. So easy to prepare the rice, that comes out fluffy and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend it.
I don't think this should be labeled as just a Rice Cooker. I have enjoyed using the other features that it has to offer. The pan inside is labeled very nicely no problem reading it at all. This is so easy to use and clean. Has a great handle to carry. I used the slow-cooker to make a Beef Stew and it turned out delicious. I Steamed some Jumbo Shrimp with Broccoli & Cauliflower w/Rice and that turned out great also. I sauté mushrooms for steaks and they were delicious. I steamed fingerling potatoes and they turned out wonderful. Can't wait to continue to use this to see what other things. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
First let's get the cooking rice done. Yes! It cooks rice and does a wonderful job. The rice came out just right. Fluffy and tasteful and it can makes a lot of it! But I was very surprised at the other things it could do and do well. You can sauté for 60 minutes! That's a long time. This gives you the ability to make more complicated dishes in one pot without overcooking or undercooking anything. And this function is hot like sautéing should be. You'll definitely get a sear on meats and carmelization on vegetables and fruits. I was pretty impressed by the slow cook function which allowed for low and high heat settings and they kept a constant temperature throughout the cooking cycle. I made a huge amount of Irish oats with apples, raisins and cranberries thrown in on the hot cereal function and the cereal came out creamy and delicious. It was done just right and I made enough to last for a week of breakfasts. I am simply blown away by this appliance. It was easy to use and it holds a lot! I like the markings on the inside of the cooking pot for rice and hot cereals. Just follow the instructions and you can't go wrong and DO use the little rice cup because the machine is calibrated to use this volume of dry rice when cooking rice. I liked that it automatically switched to warm when the dish was done and you can set starting times. Just to give some sense of what this baby can do I made chili, tandoori chicken, rice of course, both brown and white, pork roast with sautéed apples, steamed vegetables, steamed fish and Irish oatmeal and every dish was delicious. I used this appliance a lot! This is well worth getting. Pros: holds a lot of food, easy to use, easy to clean, easy to take apart and put back together, does way more than just cook rice and truly is multifunctional and looks great and modern. Cons: This is not really a con but is a good size, so it does take up kitchen real estate and if you don't have a lot of kitchen counter space, well it is very lightweight and portable and comes with a handle! I love the versatility of this rice cooker. Having the ability to make rice, saute, steam, saute, make hot cereals, slow cook meals or make sushi all in one pot is really convenient. The handles make it super easy to carry to and from events and it is really easy to clean. The instructions are very easy to follow and convenient as well. I have been cooking with this rice cooker almost everyday this week! This rice cooker is really great for our family of 6. We have tried steaming up broccoli, cauliflower and beans which came out perfectly cooked. Most importantly the rice came out perfectly cooked, not to soft and not too hard. I have struggled with many other rice cookers, trying to find one that makes decent rice. Cleaning up the machine is very easy too, all the pieces come apart so there aren't any unexpected surprises. The Hamilton Beach rice cooker does everything we need and it's quite fast! I can't wait to cook up slow meals like Chili's and soups. Definitely recommending this to my mom in law and friends!
