I'm impressed. We live in central florida, the heat and humidity was making mowing the grass a real chore. (I'm in my sixties). This is great, cuts my time down considerably. Barely break a sweat. My first riding lawn mower. drives like a go-cart. I mow in the evening now because it goes so fast. I mow more often because its fun. Its pretty quiet. I get about 3 mows per charge. That said I do have Centipede grass that grows slower than St Augustine. And its a fine bladed grass. which means i can move pretty fast. I have the bagger that works great. It all seems well engineered and built sturdy. The only con is that it has no suspension (of course), so the frame is rigid and on some uneven ground you can its possible to have only one drive wheel on the ground. Not a huge, you learn how to approach those areas so that doesnt happen. All in all I am super happy. And the price (it was on sale for less than $3000) beats all the others out there.
I spent months researching battery powered riding mowers and it mildly concerned me that most of the 5-star ratings for this mower were is some manner sponsored by Hart or Walmart. But the price and other research were enough to convince me to give it a shot. I've only had the mower for a few days, but I was impressed with the free shipping (SC to TN) and it was delivered a day early (nice). Setup is quite simple and the tools to uncrate the mower come in the kit. It takes more effort to unbolt the crate (still minimal effort) than to finish the mower assembly. I had the mower uncrated, assembled, and charging withing 30 minutes of delivery (about half that time I was just reading all the instructions.) Once charged, I took it out for a test mow. I have nearly an acre and I cut the grass @ 3.5 inches. My lawn is fairly level and open, so it doesn't present any major challenges. With no clutch and just accelerator and brake, it took a couple of minutes to adjust to a car like foot feed. There is also a reverse pedal that wasn't hard to use. The blades disengage automatically when you reverse unless you override this feature. The mower steers easily and seems to cut well. The grass is a bit sparce being the first cut of the season, but the mower tackled high grass without much effort. The supercharger worked well and both times I had a full charge in less than 90 minutes. Charging cost me less than $1.00 for two charges. My clothes dryer uses more energy. I mowed an acre on 60% charge and this was including my getting accustomed to the mower. I'm sure that I'll be able to mow a bit faster in the future. So far, it is exactly as advertised. I have no complaints.
We received the mower on Monday. It was attached to a metal skid and was well packed. Took about a 1/2 hour to disassemble the skid and assemble the mower. It had a partial charge, but charged to 100% in a couple hours. I was impressed at the build quality. Everything seems really solid and well made. Our first mowing went well. It's easy to handle and turns very sharp. Noise is so much better than with a gas engine. If you drive it without the mower blades it's more like a golf cart. The blades make some noise, but it's just air movement and the cutting. Overall very impressed. It's a lot faster than what I'd expected also. I've been handling our lawn for over 37 years by myself. Now my wife is interested in using the Hart mower. Win win!
This is a preliminary review as I just received my mower yesterday. The ordering process thru Walmart was a nightmare. Ordered on June 1 and received shipping %26 tracking quickly. Walmart cancelled order a couple of days later due to shipping delays!! Trying to find a person who understood how false this was, as mower had shipped and I was tracking it, was impossible. Could not find a customer service who was competent in English. Since the order was cancelled all I could do was reorder, so I did. That order was also cancelled by Walmart a few days later for same reason: shipping delays!! Meanwhile my mower was traversing the USA!! The mower arrived in my town on the 14th of June and was out for delivery on the 16th. Since my credit card had been credited back twice on the Walmart cancellations, I had to find a way to pay for it. Fortunately I found two great employees at Walmart Corporate, one who pointed me in the right direction for payment and the other who made it happen. Estes Express carefully unloaded the mower in my driveway and I began to work. I was totally impressed by the packaging, the steel pallet and all the reinforcement and banding. Getting all the protective stuff unbolted and unpacked took about an hour and a half and a similar amount of time to assemble things, and plug in the batteries to the point that I was ready to drive it off the pallet. At this point I must say that the video and written instructions were at least 3-star. Somehow I missed how to put the tractor in reverse. That was not clear in the instructions at all and must be emphasized. Make sure you, as a buyer, understand this point. The build of the mower is also impressive. It is structurally very solid. I have not been able to mow yet as it has been raining but will try in the next few days. In summary it appears Walmart lost visibility of its inventory in my case. That caused two weeks of work for me trying to rectify the situation. I hope this is not a preview of things to come. The 3-day shipping claim on their website is completely bogus. The Hart riding mower looks like a super machine and I'm eager to try it out!! At this point I highly recommend the Hart 80v Riding Mower. It's a shame, however, that you'll have to go thru Walmart to buy it. Walmart needs to fix the ordering process.
I just used it for the first time. I was impressed. I have just about an acre with a bunch of turns. It effectively did the job with half the power still left. You might find Gas units cheaper. But this is pretty cool with no maintenance. The bagger option with boost works great . Customer support is one call away and they pick up. No robot calls. Any issue they will have a service rep sent out. 5 year warranty. How can you go wrong?
This Hart electric riding mower and and the Ryobi model RY48130 are made by the same company Techtronic Industries (TTI). They are basically the same mower but the Hart uses (2) removable/replaceable Lithium batteries and the Ryobi uses (4) heavy Lead Acid car batteries. Two of the 80 volt Hart batteries weigh about the same as one Ryobi battery. The Hart lithium batteries charge faster (two hours) and will last for many years. Charging the (four) Ryobi batteries takes about eight hours and they stop working after about two years. I know because I had one. This Hart mower is great for about 3/4 acre or less. They claim one acre, but that's a stretch. The mower is delivered on a pallet with the mower in a metal tube crate. The new owner must be very handy with mechanic tools (wrenches and sockets) to remove the crate then assemble the mower. Anyway, the Hart is a great mower and a purchase you will not regret. It's really quiet and also use it with a utility trailer to take my trash can down to the main road every Tuesday.
The Hart riding mower arrived within a week and was in great condition. Fairly easy to remove from metal cage and easy to assemble. It handles great, it's relatively quiet with a tight turning radius and fun to use. It's solidly made and very compact in size and fits easily in my 11' x 7' Keter shed. I just may be forced to charge my neighbors to ride it and help cut my lawn.
The concept is good, but this iteration of an electric riding mower has a lot to be desired. Shipping was fast but the blade engage/disengage switch was broken on arrival. Contacted Hart customer service and a week later I received a reply asking for my shipping address. I promptly responded. Another week later I receive an email saying the charge port is being shipped. Replied and said that was the wrong part and needed the blade switch. Another week later I get a response indicating the correct part was shipped. A month and a half later, I still have not received any parts. 0 stars for Hart's customer service. Absolutely abysmal. Being as I am an engineer, it wasn't hard to find a stop-gap solution to engage/disengage the blades so I can actually use the mower I paid over $3,000 for until the actual switch arrives. Hopefully. Now for the actual experience. Assembly wasn't horrible and took about an hour to uncrate and put together. Some of the reviews indicate the batteries are "built in" but they are not. They are "suitcase" batteries, two of them. They are completely removable. Good for storing the mower in the shed over the winter and keeping the lithium batteries in the garage where they won't be subject to freezing temperatures. I have about 3/4 acre of yard to mow and will get it done with 1 bar left on the gauge as I get stuck several times. More on that in a bit. Obviously it is extremely quite to drive and mow since there is no gasoline engine, which is nice. What's not so nice is the open differential. Since there is no suspension, even on the front wheels, you can get one tire, or two, off the ground easily. This wouldn't be much of an issue when you have a perfectly flat yard and driving surface but many of us do not. If one rear tire comes off the ground it just spins, leaving you stuck and you have to use your body weight to rock it to try and get traction. I then end up tearing up the yard a little. I used to have a gas riding mower back in the 90s and had a positive traction differential. Nothing special, just a 19HP Craftsman. This would allow the rear tires to spin at slightly different speeds when cornering but both would drive the mower forward and would never get stuck with one wheel spinning and the other not. This also makes it difficult to pull a tow behind dump trailer around my property without getting stuck. Extremely disappointing for the Hart mower. I also notice small chunks of grass not mowed when turning a 90 degree corner. Mowing in a straight line is fine. Hart needs to go back to the drawing board to fix some of this.
The item works ok but will come damaged! Seller will lie about sending repair parts and keep email trend going and never send new items! As you can see in one of the messages below, they will acknowledge that it was issues but will not issue partial refunds nor willing to send a return address label which is against the law! I just brought this February 5, 2024 and it's not even 20 days old and got a message trend with more than 10 back to back messages trying to work it out but they are not willing to work it out! We are not in a dispute and will be taking legal actions! Check out pics below and how they respond to customers! Do not buy from them! I will also report them to the BBB!
Well, I am 100% disappointed with this mower, or I should say the charger....it doesn't work! Can't know how the mower works because the charger is already dead, broken or who knows what's wrong. I ordered on May 10th, it was delivered May 19th, I assembled it and went to charge it and NOTHING! The only thing that happens with the charger is it clicks and the logo has a red light around it, that's all it does. I have registered all components but to be honest I am thinking of returning it to Walmart for a full refund and going with GreenWorks brand. At least the option the replace batteries is there, not so with HART they are built-in. Thought that was a good thing but not anymore.
