The sixth season of Hawaii Five-O, notable for a handful of especially violent episodes, has arrived on DVD in handsome form but with no extras. The full-screen (1.33-to-1) transfers are crisp and sharp -- the cinematographers (and their heirs) should be pleased -- and the sound is good and loud, enough so that this reviewer had to cut the volume on his monitor, lest his neighbors complain. Each disc opens to multi-layer menu offering a "play all" option as well as the choice of running each episode with or without its preview/teaser from the week before. Each episode gets chapter markers corresponding to the original commercial and credit breaks. The only flaw with the presentation of this season is that the producers didn't include any extras -- one fact-based episode, in particular, entitled "One Big Happy Family", could have supported a commentary track by its author or producer, or even a cast member.
