EVERY PART EXCEL MORE THAN I EVEN HOPED FOR.
Large and in charge, sturdy, well made, easy to paint.
It came with a broken piece, called the company %26 they sent out a replacement right away!
I caught this on a good sale, so I thought I would try it. It seems to be well made, and I think it will work well once I get it up. One small issue was that the hole openings were not all routed properly and cleanly, so I had to file/sand some of them down. Shouldn't have had to do that, but not a huge deal. The other issue is that I wonder if it is actually red cedar as the description says. Pine maybe? There is no red marbling or aroma of typical red cedar, so i'm really not sure. It's pretty light-colored wood throughout. I put several coats of oil based paint on it, so it shouldn't be a big problem surviving the elements, but I really wanted red cedar. The mounting flange is plastic, which I would have preferred metal, so I replaced it. The plastic one would probably have been OK, though. Overall, I am pleased with this birdhouse, and I think it should give several good years of service for my martins.
