No frills design that worked well. Housing looks to be made entirely of plastic which keeps it light weight but probably not the most rugged construction. Some care should be taken while handling the unit. Had a slight fishy smell which 95% went away after first full day of use but a slight hint remained. After each use I make sure to completely dry the unit which seems to help the odor issue. Fan noise seems comparable to box fans with similar fan sizes.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this for our garage since it doesn't have cooling. The unit is seriously incredible and cools our garage down quick! We typically use it on low and are always impressed with his fast the garage gets cool. For the low setting it has very strong power. Highly recommend this unit!
This swap cooler works outstanding! I use it to cool my garage with this cooler and it works great. With the setting on hi it blows air really hard and drops the temp to 75 with the temp in the garage 95!
I read other reviews on Walmart's and Home Depot's web site and took the plunge to buy this unit through Walmart. One of the best choices ever. Have used it both indoors and outdoors in the Phoenix area...this weekend (June 4) it got up to a new record of about 116. Used it outside and dropped the patio temp from about 110 to 89 later in the evening (yes, it was still 110 around 6 PM). Granted, our patio is enclosed with two sides open and have a roll down shade awning on part of one side that's open. The evaporator sits on the patio pavers pointed to the patio part where we sit, so the cool air from the evaporator gets blown into that area. It's kind of a 2 1/2 sided enclosed outdoor room that holds in some of the cool air. Assembly was pretty easy. The casters are heavy duty and the machine is easy to roll around. When assembling, the casters are inside the back of the machine, so you need to unscrew the back panel to get at the box containing the casters. Because of reading another review, that's how I knew. Otherwise I would maybe have thought the casters are missing. Hessaire should place a label on the cabinet saying you need to take off the back panel to get the casters. Using the machine inside has also worked well. It sits inside the front door and blows out the back door. It's a distance of about 40 feet with a couple hallways and bedrooms off of the main air flow (probably about 1600 sq ft for all of that area) and it still cools down about 10 degrees. In the end, very satisfied with the machine and would buy another. Got Walmart's extended warranty plan just in case, because during the months of mid-May to mid-October is will be used constantly either indoors or out. Indoors, we'll use A/C on the hottest days (like 105+ degrees) and use the evaporator on the patio. Less than 105, we'll use the evap indoors during the day and possibly move it outside later in the day. It's really that easy to move.
After studying evaporative coolers for a while, I decided to purchase this model and glad I did! It puts out a lot of air and the noise level is very low vs. others we have heard. We use this on our patio/back porch where we have west sun beating down us and this unit keeps us cool now! Although we did have a small issue - during shipping the capacitor fell out of its holder and was dangling when we turned it on the fan beat on it a little. Took the back panel off and put it in correct place and it has been running with no problems. I would highly recommend.
Its a bit on the flimsy side but gets the job done. Would like to see it priced around the $300 range. For $500 it should be built a little tougher.
This unit works and looks great; however, I wish there had been instruction on finding the casters. There was no indication where they might be and they were packed in a box taped to the inside of the water tray at the bottom of the unit. Did not rattle or anything indicating there might be something inside. Had to unscrew the back panel of the unit to get into tray and know that there was something inside to even see them. The tray is not a removable tray so you could not just pull the tray out like a drawer to see if there might be something inside. Only found out after first unit was returned for being missing parts. When second unit arrived with "missing casters" called the manufacturer and was told where to find them. Might want to put a sticker notification on the box or unit to tell other unsuspecting purchasers.
Only used it twice but seems to be very good - quality looks good, easy to roll around, blows nice cool air - still learning.
I've had a Master Cool portable cooler for about 9 years now that has worked fine, except for the gradual rusting of the body. Last year the sides holding the cooling pads would not stay in place & there was leakage constantly. That was a mess on the patio. My wife told me not to even bother bringing it out this year, so I went shopping & found the Hessaire line of coolers, compared them to others & decided this made the most sense, especially the rubberized plastic body. Ordered it from Walmart (saved $40 from HomeDepot's price) and it was here in two days. Box & all from FedEx only weighed 60 pounds so no problem getting it unpacked and set up. Helped to know that the wheels were packed inside. Incredible air-mover, so much so that it could really use another slower speed. The only issue I encountered was the float stuck, both open and closed. WD-40 fixed that. Considering what our goal for the cooler is: make the patio bearable during the summer, and what it costs, I am very happy so far.
Flimsy piece of junk. It reminded me of the tin man on the wizard of oz. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
