This was the perfect rear carrier to help me off load some sports equipment to accommodate six persons seated in our SUV for a seven hour drive to our son's sports tournament in Florida. Without having this rear carrier, I would not have been able to transport six persons and would have required two vehicles. It was very easy to assemble and mount on the rear hitch. It was also very easy to raise up in a vertical position once we off loaded the sports equipment. This made it easier to park the vehicle without having to account for the extra length of the read carrier. This was a great purchase, and I would definitely recommend the HitchMate Cargo Carrier for anyone looking for a rear cargo carrier.
I purchased this product since we are leaving for a long trip for christmas... when it arrived i put it all together and it was really easy to do... once it was finished i put it on the back of the vehicle and when it folds up it is snug right with the hatch area... never thought it would hold anything down until i tried it for the first time and i love this product... only thing i hate is when it is folded up there are no reflectors for other drivers to see, but i had some laying around and put them on myself... i would definitely recommend this product and can't wait to see how it holds up when we leave and come back..
I purchased this product because I ran low on space in myy SUV. After receiving it and putting I together it performed above expectation. Very sturdy construction and the anti wobble device eliminated any and all possible wobble during travel. It was easy to install and I definitely recommend this to anyone needing this type of product.
I had been shopping for a trailer for carrying yard waste and trash to the dump, so I would not have to put it in my SUV, then I saw someone with one of these Hitchmates, it works just fine and a whole lot cheaper then a trailer. Its also great for the trips to the beach.
Aside from getting no instructions in the package and only finding outdated ones online, it is a good product.
Great product, came faster than expected. The only complaint I had was it was supposed to have a lock and keys come with it and it wasn't in the shipment. I had to call the company it was sent by . They sent it right away.
It needs instructions. The "anti wobble" gimmic needs work. I bought it in California and used it for a trip across the country. Pretty Good item. I used cargo straps to the vehicle to stablize some of the wobble...if that could be addressed without additional straps- it would be excellent. I is far back to allow access to truck bed and it is a heavy duty carrier. Overall Very Good.... just not excellent.
Overall a well built piece of equipment but it was supposed to come with an anti-theft lock. The lock that I received doesn't appear to have any possible purpose with this cargo platform. Possibly a mistake in packaging? The "anti-wobble device" consists of one grade 8 bolt, nut and lock washer with a plastic locating block for the nut. I'm not going to trust my load to one nut and bolt on one side of my receiver. I'll buy a locking hitch pin to secure this to my truck to replace the mystery item that was shipped and see how things work out without the "anti-wobble" device.
