I needed a desk for a home office and didn't want a cheap, plastic laminated particle board desk. This desk is well designed, solid wood, and attractive. The desk arrived in three boxes in good shape. I thought the assembly instructions were easy to follow and it went together without any problem. There are a lot of parts, so it is at least a two hour project. The only concern I have is the unit for the CPU doesn't have ventilation, but I'm not sure I'll be using that cabinet for that purpose. They included a removable shelf for that cabinet if I want to use it for another purpose. Providing an additional piece of hardware (fasteners)is a nice touch.
My husband is super picky and has been looking for a new desk for nearly a year. When we got the desk it came in 3 seperate boxes pretty much already assembled. It is beautiful, sturdy, and not too big, exactly what we were looking for!
Bottom line is now that it's assembled I love this piece! It is everything I had hoped for. However, assembly was hardly a piece of cake. Had I not previously put together other pieces with similar hardware, I would have found the instructions indecipherable. Even as it was, it took many hours and some trimming with a belt-sander to get the top surface to drop into place. If you're good with tools, buy it. If you're all thumbs and not good at problem-solving, give it a pass.
This desk is well made, real wood and plenty of storage space. Very happy with the quality and it was worth the purchase price. Takes a bit of time and patience to assemble . Love this desk!
The desk arrived quickly and undamaged. The color does not match the picture, however it is still a nice color, more of a light cherry - not oak which I wanted to match another desk in my office. Assembly was straight forward with clear directions, except for the keyboard tray. I fought that daxx thing for hours to get it to go in the desk. Lost some of the slide ball bearings trying to unjam it. Finally called the vendor and they knew exactly what to do. They emailed me directions on how to install it - said that she did not know why they did't have them included in the packaging. What you have to do to get the drawer in, is to have someone get underneath the drawer with 2 screwdrivers as someone else starts to slide it in. Then, push the 2 ball bearing slides toward the front of the desk while the other person pushes in the drawer. What a terrible setup. Certainly there are much better slides than these. The vendor is sending me another drawer and side pieces with the slides on them. Now with the simple instructions I should be able to get it to work. Great response from the vendor by the way!
This is a great desk, but there was one fault. The cam lock screws on one of the side panels were not proper, and I had to improvise (drill holes and insert screws - this was easier than returning it) to secure it.
I was very happy with this desk overall. I think it is well made for the money, attractive and very functional. I purchased the cottage oak color. It was not as pictured. It was a darker, richer color, which I actually preferred, but those looking for a lighter color should beware. The dimensions are also listed incorrectly. It is 24""D, not 28""D as listed, which was disappointing and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. However, Hayneedle credited me $40 for the error.
Work requires a home office. Stores all my paperwork in a manner convenient to access. Small living room converted to office space. Love the way it looks and the way it functions! Takes some time to assemble and the final assembly requires two people. Very pleased!
Received in 3 boxes, well marked and easy to identify contents. Fairly easy to assemble and I liked that final assembly could be done where the desk was going to be. The desk is heavy once assembled. Overall, this has been a great purchase and experience.
It took 2 men, and myself to get this thing put together... both men quit before one came back after being so frustrated that the desk was so difficult to put together because the nothing lines up and it and it isn't made properly. After refitting most everything... and getting the right side and the left side put together... not great... but desperate as I was, it was acceptable. After all this frustration, and hours put in, the middle drawer does not line up and will not fit... at all. This product is defective and for that amount of money they should come out bring another one to me and put it together for me... I will never buy from this company again. I will never order online again... What a terrible experience!
