Not only does this evaporative cooler look good, which is important in its self...but it is also very quite and works so well. The remote is also nice to have! It is nice to have the cool air in the desert climate of Nevada. Best kept secret is it keeps the dust down too as well as keeps my carpet healthy feeling under my bare feet! Of course we know you can always count on Honeywell to produce a good product! Yes I like it!!
Perfect size for spare bedrooms. Cools a spare bedroom down and can notice a difference. Nice that it's on wheels. And osolating feature is internal so you don't have to worry about cooler moving around. Flashing light for when water is low so you have to watch for or you'll burn up the pump. Even just fan is nice. Wish the panel in back to put water in was a little bigger but it works. On medium cool setting will run for about 7 to 8 hours. I would definitely recommend buying!
First of all, this item is not to be mistakened as an A/C unit. It is a swamp cooler. You'll poor lots of water into it and the internal fan blows on the water and cool air comes out. Even if you're not supposed to, I mixed the water with lots of ice chips and poored it down the shoot. It got significantly colder in my small room. Now obviously the humidity will be higher compared to the rest of your house. For the price and overal ease of use I give it five stars!!
This little gem does just what it is supposed to do, it cools you down! Definitely colder than a fan, but no where near as cold as A/C. But that is what this is designed to be! An air cooler!!! Set this up a few feet away from you and you will be feeling fine on a hot day.
I got this because I don't sleep well in the summer. We keep our house at around 78 degrees at night but with my health issues its too hot for sleep still so I bought this evaporative cooler. It cools my room to a great sleeping temperature and I sleep through the whole night and never wake up now. I start running it about a hour before I go to bed on high then for 5 hours during the night on medium. Since our house is already at a cool temperature when I use it I'm not sure how it would work when it's hotter, it seems like it would work well. I only have 2 slight issues. 1 the label for the buttons is not smooth and doesn't seem like a high quality sticker, it worry it might come off. 2. when I pour water in, it leaks over the edges of the pour spout. I simply just keep a small towel under it when filling and the problem is solved. I also put a folded washcloth over the power button light since its kind of bright for sleeping.
I bought this air cooler not knowing it was not an actual room conditioner. It came in a box and is not heavy at all I carried it from my porch to the bedroom without any effort. It doesn't need any ensembles or Window attachments I was so relieved that it only needs water and it rolls with the wheels.
It does cool the area right around it. Make sure you do press the cool button and you do want to let air flow through it, otherwise it makes the room humid and icky. It showed up the very next day after I ordered it. The sound is no worse than a fan.
So it definitely blows out cool air, but even the HI setting is very weak. My bedroom's pretty small and it takes about an hour before the room is cooled off. If you aren't picky about being cooled off right away (you could just sit right in front of it if you're really hot!) and don't want to pay full price for an actual a/c unit, this is a good buy. Comes with remote and nice sleep setting to save energy.
This was a gift for my daughter to keep her cool this summer but returning as it is not powerful enough. The high button seems more like a low button. It is not enough to cool you off. Now buying her a window shade instead. Windows are vertical sliding so can only have a portable a/c which is too costly. I would suggest saving money for portable a/c instead of a cooler--just doesn't cool enough.
After receipt, I noted that the instructions recommended cross ventilation to work properly. This was not noted in any of the information provided prior to purchase. It is greatly inconvenient having to keep a window and door open to satisfy this requirement and did little to contribute to cooling the air. Especially in hot weather. For many years, I previously had a more compact unit that used a 1 quart water bottle. It ran efficiently without having to worry about cross-ventilation and made a 10 degree cooling difference. Unfortunately for me, this unit is heavier and cumbersome. The 2.5 gallon base put too much moisture in the room and although I added ice, it became uncomfortably warm and muggy. I tried working with it for a few days, but eventually gave up. It now sits in the garage.
