I am delighted with this new dehumidifier. We are on the side of a mountain in a very humid area. The steep lot and road above put the main floor upstairs, and my study and additional bedrooms are down. The back half of the downstairs floor's walls are underground. The lower level has always smelled musty, even with a/c on because it is half underground and over a crawlspace of moist dirt. I got the last dehumidifier to try to get rid of the smell and it, along with sealing plastic over the crawlspace and sucking the air out from under it with a radon system, got rid of 80-90% of the odor. It stayed like that for nine years. From three days after I installed this new Honeywell unit in the downstairs central hallway our musty smell has been totally GONE! It is far quieter than my nine-year-old Whirlpool, was packaged well by the factory and came with clear directions written in real English. The cabinet does not rattle or buzz, its drain fitting is on the back and accepts the female end of a regular garden hose. It also comes with a more flexible, less likely to kink, small diameter 3' long hose that I thought might be hard to connect reliably to my garden hose drain. So I ran my old drain hose up through the floor as always and directly to it. This unit makes you bend the hose 90° to go out through the floor. The air intake is on the back so you can't put it against the wall. Mine is about 8” out, a little less than recommended, and my hose does not kink (see picture). The controls are easy to operate and its humidistat first reads out what you set, then changes to and stays on the current humidity. I can't get over how quiet it is. Heard from upstairs the downstairs dehumidifier is the same volume as our upstairs refrigerator. There are a nice integrated carrying handle and four smooth casters to roll it. It weighs 41 lbs unpackaged. It will remove moisture down to 38°F and comes with a five year warranty (1 yr labor) on the refrigeration system parts only.
The Honeywell 32 pt. dehumidifier worked very well in my basement this summer. I think the pamphlet that came with it said it could take 2-3 days to totally clear an area of humidity. It took about 24 hrs. So I was quite impressed. Pretty quiet, but that didn't matter too much as it was downstairs. Well made. Bucket is a little light, but you never should carry these just by the handle, anyway. I did not use the splatter shield when carrying it. Just be a little careful, and you'll be fine. Would buy again.
Honeywell is the only product that has a 5 year warranty on the sealed refrigeration system. (Compressor, coils %26 lines.) Price is comparable to other brands with a 1 year warranty. Apparently, Honeywell has confidence that they have a reliable, longer lasting dehumidifier. This unit really collects a considerable amount of water. Why buy anything else??
Havent plugged it in yet. Looks smaller than I thought
I've only had the dehumidifier for a couple of weeks and so far so good. It says it's 50 pints, but it does not hold as much water as my last 50 pint dehumidifier so I have to check more times during the day. The reason I bought this particular dehumidifier is the 5 year warranty on the "sealed parts" which include the compressor. My previous dehumidifier only lasted 2 years, hopefully this one will last much longer. Time will tell.
It appears to be made well and convenient to operate. It is not the most quiet unit I have ever seen. Being an engineer, I measured the noise level from it. My Frigidaire unit of the same size and capacity is 8 db quieter. The 5 year warranty is appreciated!
Working very well and removes humidity quickly. Chose this unit for efficiency over bucket size as I'm using the hose to empty directly into the drain. Only taking off one star for the reason that at any setting < 70 the fan never shuts off.
It is tiny compared to my other 50 pint dehumidifiers and the bucket is tiny, too. Going to be emptying it constantly (if it works well). Have been buying dehumidifiers since I moved to a house with a basement 31 years ago-they have averaged about 7-8 years each, but one of two I bought last summer (2021) just had an error code that the manual said meant was leaking gas, so I didn't want to buy that brand again and so I am trying this, but not real hopeful based on the size of the thing. We shall see.
The fan run continually even when the humidity is set way up to 70. The condenser shuts off, the fan runs and runs. Don't waste your money. Very disappointed.
This is listed as a 50 pint dehumidifier but the tag on the back of the unit say it is a 30 pint dehumidifier. I spent more for a 50 pint and got a 30.
