The unit is great. It's precise and it is very reliable. I originally had the non-wifi unit. The wifi option is a tool that helps to save money. I have placed two of them in tenanted units and I make the appropriate adjustments considering the varying weather and outside temperature changes, including making the appropriate heat adjustments as required without having to enter their units. I installed one in my home as well. It has reduced my gas consumption in all areas enough to make a comparable difference to consumption of the previous year in similar weather temperatures. I recommend the product. The specific daily schedules permits the precise demand for heat or cool without having to heat up or cool an empty property and coupled with the ability to make changes on the go, it is a partner in savings.
purchased this product to allow me to turn a/c on prior to arriving home. My old thermostat was set to 90 when I was away, now I can lower temp so unit can start lowering temp prior to my arrival. product was easy to install easy to set-up and program. this is an excellent item
Now I can make sure I didn't forget to turn down the heat after we left or even turn it up if needed before we get there. Works as expected and decent Android application.
Programming by wifi was child's play, also nice to have temperatures displayed in Celsius, and having the heat or cooling come on when people are here will hopefully keep our energy bills down too. The unit is also very neat on the wall, no regrets in buying it.
Used product that came in very good condition. Product works as advertised. Quick shipping. Most certainly recommend. Will purchase from seller again if they have anymore items of interest to me
The thermostat works well. I use it with my iPhone, which is very convenient. Rarely, it will disconnect from the wifi, but usually reconnects itself within minutes.
It works as advertised. I enjoy the ability to control the temperature when I need to, on my phone, from the floor below the thermostat's location. My only gripe is the pale green screen on the thermostat itself is hard to read under almost any light condition.
As a manual thermostat, it works well and has a lot of features. HOWEVER, as a smart home add-on the Honeywell servers are terrible. I estimate about 60-80% of the time I get the message "it looks like Honeywell Total Connect US is unavailable right now" on my Google Assistant. Therefore, 5-Stars as an "overpriced" manual thermostat and 1-Star for smart home functionality, meaning 3-Stars overall rating.
The device functions properly, I purchased 9 units. However, my application requires WiFi and a thermostat that will read sub-freezing temperatures. After installing my cold environment thermostats, I discovered these thermostats will not read temperatures below 40 degrees. Research reveals many people are disappointed in this model of Honeywell thermostat for this reason. I would not recommend this thermostat for the small percentage of us who have a desire to read lower than 40 degree F temperatures. Otherwise the thermostat works fine; however, not for my temperature applications.
I don't understand why in God's green earth Honeywell would not give you the option just to update your router/modem password versus all of the hoops you have to jump through to reconnect the thermostat to the wireless system in your home. I have been a Honeywell fan for the past 30+ years and even had one of the first programmable thermostats Honeywell came out with ~30 years ago (the Honeywell Chronotherm III *** see the attached picture). I currently have the model number RTH8580WF1007. I first tried to just reset the wireless by entering in the 0900 0 code. That didn't work. Then I did a factory reset using the 0710 1 code. That didn't work. I then tried a factory reset after removing the battery backup. Strike three. The previous wireless info is still in the thermostat and stuck in the "Wi-Fi Setup" mode. Even though it never stated in any of the research that I looked up, I disconnected my phone from 5G and joined my 2.4 frequency just in case Honeywell didn't have the 5G technology added to the thermostat. Nope. That didn't work either. I honestly cannot think of one additional thing that I can do to get this reconnected to my new wireless modem. Two+ hours of my time shot messing around with this unit. I am now getting an email every hour from my thermostat letting me know that I have a "COMMUNICATION ALERT *** Alert: The thermostat FAMILY ROOM not communicating with My Total Connect Comfort." To add insult to injury, I click on the hyperlink in the body of that email "Please use FAQ for instructions to reconnect to the internet" and it takes me to a "404 - page not found" webpage. So now the thermostat is now disconnected and I'll give it a try again in a week. Hopefully having it sit for a week will make it think that it was sitting on a shelf prior to being purchased. This is a great little unit overall. You set up the programming once and it is basically set it and forget it. The thermostat does everything for you. I could even use the app returning from a trip an hour away and release the hold so the house would be warmer when I returned from a trip. Fantastic! When I originally bought this thermostat, I had no issues getting it hooked up to the wireless in my home, but when you change your Wi-Fi router or modem, buyer beware. You better have an IT master's degree, and even then, I don't know if you will be able to get it to reconnect.
