It is an interesting design, but somewhat flimsy. I am afraid my son is too rough on it and it won't last long. It is also difficult for him to aim the arrow so that it flies and not just falls on the ground. The flap is a little hard to open. But for now he is having fun with it.
I bought this for my son's 6th bday. He had been asking for it for some time. He was very excited to use it. We came across a couple of issues. The trigger that you pull to turn the shield into a crossbow has to be pulled at just the right spot or it doesn't open. Once you figure where that spot is, it's fine (for us, when he pulled the trigger, he needed to put the pressure on the bottom of the trigger button - not the middle or top, which is where it feels more natural to pull). It is a little awkward the way the bolt slides in & it has two rubber pieces that you hook the bolt through & then pull back & release. I did it easily, but my son's little hands had a hard time getting the bolt set & pulling it back far enough to shoot more than a couple feet. I know he'll grow into it so I'm not super upset about that part. Plus he told me he didn't care about shooting the crossbow, he loves the shield because it does look just like Hiccup's.
So far it works great. Easy to use right out of box.
Super cool for HTTYD lovers, but disappointing. It doesn't work well. The shield doesn't slide open smoothly and arrow catches on it and falls to the floor. In other words, it looks cool, but doesn't work.
sent it to my son for his birthday, apparently it broke the first time he used it. buying another one, will update the review when he tries out the second one.
Cheap, does not work, advertising deceptive
