great price and all what I was looking for.
I purchased this laptop for use in over the road driving. So far everything is good. Windows 8 is much different to previous version.
This is a great laptop. It comes with a trial version of Norton internet security/antivirus which will slow down everything. I always use Eset Nod32, but anything except Norton is OK. If you get this with windows 8, there is an update issue but it is easily fixed. It is a conflict with the sound driver and the Microsoft updates and both MS and HP know of this problem and are working on it but like I said, it can easily be fixed in a few minutes. If you are getting Windows 8, it is a lot different navigating than windows 7. Windows 8 is great for touchscreen systems but a little annoying at times for a mousepad. If you like, you can install the free software 'Classic Shell' and it will be just like windows 7 but still have the newer features running underneath. If you do buy this, here are the simple steps for the update... Go to control panel, updates, select download but let ME install. Stay in control panel and go to device manager. Look under sound/game controllers. There will be two drivers. For each, select properties, and the uninstall driver. DO NOT SELECT checkbox to delete when it asks, just uninstall. after two drivers uninstalled, go to updates and let it online to check. When it finds them all, expand to see all of them in the list. UNCHECK this one...KD2756872. After unchecking, right click on it and select "Hide This Update". then you are free to install all the updates and it will ignore this one from now on. After reboot, your laptop will re-install the drivers for you and you are good to go. Now, if you like, you can choose to allow automatic updates. Don't let this little Microsoft goof up scare you, this is a great laptop as are all HP's. : )
The value of this is amazing! I went on HP.com and built a laptop with the same features. The total was over $1200. My only problem is windows 8. Yes the apps are neat but switching back and forth from the apps to desktop is akward. The most frustrating thing I encountered was trying to enable the adobe flash player. I couldn't get it too work I even had friends try it and they also failed. The only other thing was the fingerprint scanner, it works great if your hands are always the same, not too dry or wrinked from doing dishes. I live where it is cold when your hands are cold it won't work either.
Good system, all around performance. The Wi-Fi is a bit flaky at time but i think the driver update has lessen the problem at the moment.
I purchased this notebook PC when my older HP finally gave up the ghost. I also have a very high-end HP that I use for digital photography and Photoshop production, so this was purchased to replace a box intended for all other things. To my amazement it runs Photoshop very well in 64 bit mode! The quad core AMD can handle everything I've thrown at it, so far. The only complaint I have about this machine is the low resolution screen - it's 1366 X 768 and the color is not as accurate as my HP workhorse. The screen angle, tho advertised as offering a wide viewing angle, just isn't so. Having said that, I didn't buy it for a production machine - I bought it for web, email, ebook functions and online movies. It is, as far as I can tell, the best bang for the buck! It comes with a 750 gb drive and 8 gb of RAM and has a card reader and fingerprint reader for security. The built in web cam works well but the Beats Audio isn't spectacular unless you plug it into external (powered) speakers. Windows 8 is...well...Windows 8 and MS hasn't abandoned the "usual" desktop which is available too. Someday MS will go beyond the NT Kernel, but not in Windows 8. If you are going to buy it because it has Windows 8, oh well! If you want to save some bucks and not sacrifice performance, this is a very good buy.
At first windows 8 threw me for a loop. I wanted the computer navigation to be as I've always known it to be. However, after learning windows 8 I find the computer very easy to use and it is fast enough for what I'm doing. I recommend the computer but if you buy learn windows 8 first. You will be happier with it.
This is a good computer. It is fast and has lots of neat features. However, I haven't used it long enough to completely figure out the new windows. The set up is a lot different. Also, I feel it was kind of over priced for what it is. Perhaps after I use it longer I will review again. I have had no problems, but feel my experience with a lower priced computer might be just as good.
Overall, I am pleased with this laptop, with two important exceptions. First, this laptop does not have a backlit keyboard, as was indicated in the reviews. This was one of the major drawing points for me purchasing this computer. Secondly, the laptop does not have a 3.2 GHZ processor, as was advertised. Instead, it has a 2.3 GHZ processor. Had I known this, I probably would have gone with another laptop that had these two features that I wanted.
took back they tried to give floor model not new with out telling me
