I bought this unit for everday use of the Pocket PC, with an added bonus of a take anywhere GPS unit. I am very satisfied with the functionality of the IPAQ. Keeps me organized throughout the day, connects to my wireless network, or WIFI hotspots with a breeze. This is definitely a great product at everday low Wal-Mart Prices. Save Money, Live Better
This is one best friend for you on the road!! don't think twice if you want to be sure of your steps where ever you go!!! A little expensive but it worths the price!
I am very happy with my purchase of this product. It does all I was hoping for and more. I have a hard time putting it down. The feel is great. I like the fact you can rotate the screen. The wireless works great! Websites load very fast. The fact the GPS interfaces with other programs is handy.
I have had this little toy for almost a year, and since the first day I had it and until now, I enjoy every time I turned on, the wireless conection with my internet modem is great, and I like to pair it with my car stereo via bluetooth and have wireless stream music, it sounds very well. I really like it, the GPS had taken me wherever I need to go. If you want to have some fun, with great serious features, go and get it.
Have had this amazing unit coming on 2 years. Keep finding out how many things it can do. I use it daily for; GPS including at least a couple dozen vacation/business road trips, audible books and mobipocket fictionwise ebooks. The hp photosmart works like a charm too. Constant problems with active sync and somewhat excessive soft resets seem to be unresolved and common problems with other users. After discussion and researching other GPS' devices, TOM TOM is the most user friendly GPS with the same quirks as all the other makers - not fast enough signal and outdated maps or inaccurate directions. Only 1 other minor drawback is the rather poor battery life which has been a non-issue for the most part since I am in the car with it mostly.
Ordered this unit for GPS duties. By adding a little to what a stand alone GPS would cost, we now have so many more features. Overall a very nice unit. Would highly recommend.
I got this unit on the strength of HP's reputation. The PDA part works well, and the addition of the GPS is nice, but it seems cobbled together rather than designed. There doesn't appear to be much integration between the GPS and applications (such as Google Maps) that runs on the device. This could be a problem with Google's app though. I like the fact that I can use the device either in horizontal or vertical mode, but why should I have to push buttons to do so? It would have been simple enough to add a sensor and orient the screen automatically. As the orientation only rotates in one direction, I have to press the rotate button three times to go from vertical with buttons at the bottom, to horizontal with buttons to the right! That's NOT user-friendly. But the biggest annoyance is probably the time it takes the GPS to acquire a signal. I read other users comments, and downloaded and installed the patch, but it still takes a couple of minutes for the GPS to "wake up". As the GPS doesn't get a signal when I'm inside my house, I can't even "prime" it as I walk out to my car. Once in the car, I can either sit there for a couple of minutes for the device to get its signals, or start driving but then it takes even longer! It's a loose-loose situation. My next step is to install an external GPS antenna to boost the signal, in the hope that with a stronger signal it will wake up faster.
Awful unit, I had to do a hard reset more than a dozen times since I bought it a year and a half ago, I just finished talking to a supervisor at customer support and there are no firmware or software updates. The GPS works fine, altough maps are outdated, but the windows part is bad, it freezes very often. If you are willing to do a hard reset part of your daily routine, don't have access to your appointments, meetings because your unit just doesn't work and you have to wait untill you go home and do a synch to get your contacts and info back, go ahead and buy it.
