Great computer for the money !!
I bought this for my sons to play games and create art and watch videos and type and anything else they might need to do. It does everything we need and well for only $108. We use it with a flat screen TV for a monitor. It comes with DVD ROM, not a DVD writer, but if you have a USB drive you can take files to another computer for burning.
I was somewhat concerned about ordering a refurbished computer but this one is just like new. Complete with Windows 7 this was an excellent choice to replace my broken PC. Cheaper than having mine repaired.
works good im satisfied
I got one of these last week and it looked pretty good out of the box. To get online (wireless) all I had to do was to load the driver for my wireless adapter to get to my in-house network. After that I did some updates and then I personalized a bit. -------Then the problems began. I saw where I could set up a HOMEGROUP and since I'd never done that before I decided to try it. I set up the new computer and everything was hunky-dory. When I went to the old computer as soon as I connected to my nice new HOMEGROUP the old computer began to run way slow. I disconnected from the HOMEGROUP and after a re-boot the old computer was fine again. I checked the new Walmart computer and it was slow because of no memory. I re-booted the new machine and it decided to configure itself for 150 updates. All the while it was in slow motion. It got to the fourth update and stayed there for the next eight hours. I wasn't supposed to turn the computer off, but I figured it was doing me any good stuck on update #146 so I shut it down When I turned it back on it wouldn't quite get all the way to windows. It said there was a problem and offed a bunch of programs to help fix it with. Eventually I tried RESTORE which it said didn't work and then it rebooted and started up fine. I had to re-do everything including all the updates, but I finally got everything working just fine. Through it all the local Walmart offered to give me my money back so any way I look at it I have a good deal. Very happy with the computer and the service. This is the perfect answer for a cheap replacement for a machine running Windows XP.
My unit arrived with a non-functional DVD drive. I had to wait on hold for quite some time on the toll-free number for the support company: but when I did reach them, they sent out a replacement drive quickly and the unit has worked well since. It's a reasonably fast system for the money. It doesn't have a high-end video card for the most resource intensive graphics, but it plays movies and does other general tasks (word processing, etc.) well. I'm running mostly on Linux, and the hardware is recognized by all of the distributions I've tried so far. It would have cost me more to repair a PC I have, which would still end up with a slower CPU. It comes with a floppy disk that most users won't need. I was able to put a second hard drive into that space, the built-in SATA controller has three sockets so it will support the original hard drive, the DVD, and an extra drive.
Tower came preloaded with Windows 7 Home edition, but did not have Microsoft Office. It was easily installed and booted up quickly, no issues with initial setup. Does not have any extra software, so when purchasing, look into everything you will want installed prior to its arrival.
NOT AT ALL WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS THE HOUSING WAS CRACKED , NOT LETTING THE CD/DVD DRAWER OPEN, THE WINDOWS 7 HEY CODE WAS NOT VALID. I HAVE RETURNED THIS FOR A REFUND.
Have been Buying refurbished products for years, and this is the first one I have had trouble with.
This refurbished computer came with a broken keyboard (was supposed to be new) and a missing nut needed to attach the monitor plug. (We had to take one off an old computer) Trying to start it up was futile... It kept going back to the first screen, and upon calling the number listed, we were asked to boot with the disc supplied, and were informed it was a hardware problem. Luckily, this was within the 15-day allowed return period, so we were able to take it to the local Walmart and get a full refund for the computer and the 2-yr service plan we had purchased. So, we are still without a desktop..... would be nice if these refurbished things were really checked out and inspected before re-selling them to the public.
