Great computer. Pity about the registration software: HP thinks that an Australian Postcode for extended warranty is invalid. It thinks that 5001 is not legal! I'd love to pay for the extra cover but the HP software will not let me.
I have spent two years researching laptops. In the end only a couple offered everything I wanted and this HP laptop offer with a 2 Tbyte hard drive at a good price here in Australia was perfect for me. and the very best! It has a 3x2 non reflective touch screen (much better for reading and working with documents & spreadsheets). While not essential, the OLED screen was fantastic to get at a good price. It has a top i7 processor, enough RAM for me, good speakers (B&O) for a laptop with the sound coming up and down. It has all the ports I wanted: USB (both sizes & Thunderbolt as well), an SD card reader, a jack for wired headphones, quick secure fingerprint login, and a camera switch. It has a great backlit keyboard (even though I don't type fast it is just great to use). The mousepad is a great size and has very good feel. The build quality and looks are superb. Amazingly, it is more compact in size than the superlight Lenovo laptop it is replacing (a fantastic travel computer but the 16:9 screen was not the best size for composing and working with docs and spreadsheets). This HP is heavier, but not over heavy. It does not get hot on my bare legs which is great (mind you I am not doing intensive work for long periods any more so it is perfect for me). It's main rival for me was the new Framework laptop, but it is not yet available in Australia and does not have a touchscreen yet. I guess that as a long term Linux user on my dual system desktop computer I have come to love the lack of bloatware thst Linux offers. All that aside I am very happy with this HP laptop. This HP was "everything" I wanted and to get one with the OLED & 2Tb hard drive at a good price here in Australia was an offer too good to refuse. Luckily for me I did not have to compromise on what I wanted at all. Good on you HP. No-one else delivers all the ports and features thst you do. One gripe perhaps... like my Lenovo this HP comes loaded with maker stuff. I would prefer this not built in, but just available to load down from the maker website (HP in this case) as and when needed.
My new Spectre replaces my 4.5 year old i7 Spectre that I use for business and personal use. The new model is as good as the old if not better (my first experience with Win11) and I found it easy to set up and copy everything across. Loving the speed! BTW my old Spectre still works well. It only needs a battery replacement and a new disk to sped it up again. One of our kids is going to be luck enough to get it.
I got this laptop a few weeks ago and would say this is an awesome laptop. It is very well built and is a charm to use. The only drawback is that it only has two USB ports so I bought an external docking station that expands my needs to different types and number of ports and outputs. I had a few configuration and driver issues but they were resolved by HP technical support in a prompt and professional manner. I highly recommend this laptop.
Love the display format and keyboard, but the privacy filter is too noticeable when disabled. The filter works great (if you need it) but creates dimming around the edges when switched off. The filter spoils the impact of the extra height of the display and limits the optimum viewing angle when it is off - you have to keep the screen tilt perfectly angled and centered AT ALL TIMES.
Second spectre (2018 Model) I've had fans and type c ports failed on the old one but such a great package on the whole. Hopefully the new one continues the love for this model
It's a bit too overrated and overpriced for its quality and performance. It started freezing within a couple of days. The design is elegant but performance wise it isn't commendable.
I bought this product with the promise it would handle 4k video and editing programs Unfortunately not true, this is a great looking laptop and quick in every way but just not the right pc for 4k video It was very glitchy and lags when opening video files and Adobe premier pro crashes I have since returned the product and still searching for the right set up for me
Touchpad pressure is a bit too heavy. Keys are clicky. Should be 4 cm wider for most applications. The right arrow key needs a lot of pressure - probably a fault. Screen colours are a bit yellow.
Bad software/hardware with 2 models sofar. Fans stopped working and OLED screen keeps glitching. Displays errors on start up and runs very very hot, which makes me think it won't last long. Can't handle too many tasks at once, which is odd considering the processor speed. Cannot play high resolution 3k video without buffering. Lots of communication issues with HP. I like the 3:2 screen ratio, keyboard and lightweight, compact style but overall, this is an inferior product. Very disappointed.
