Nice Tablet with Windows 10!
(4)
Reviewed in the USA on 2016-08-26T17:00:00

DISCLAIMER: This is a review of a factory refurbished HP Stream 7 PC Tablet. It arrived nice and clean with no defects. The original Windows 8 Pro has been upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. It has a limited Warranty and so far it is working fine. I needed a highly portable PC based Tablet that would work with Windows Programs for a very specific hobby application and there are some out there with some hefty price tags. This refurbished Tablet is about the least expensive one you will find. For the price it is kind of amazing. Never thought you could get all this for next to nothing. This Tablet came running Windows 10 Pro. It has an Intel Atom 1.33Ghz Quad Core CPU with 1gb of DDR3 RAM and 32Gb SD of which around 16Gb is available with the rest taken by the OS. You can add an SD card up to 64GB. You can get separately an inexpensive OTG USB HUB for the Intel USB 3.0 Micro USB port and run anything that you want. It has Bluetooth. The verdict is mixed if it charges with the OTG cable or you have to direct connect the micro USB cable. It actually seems like it doesn't really charge but the battery level indicator doesn't change on the screen. So you may need to run off battery if you have external USB devices like an SSD or KVM or whatever. I guess if you wanted to you could actually use it as a Desktop with a monitor etc. But that would not be ideal. It has limited memory 1gb 32Gb SD etc. Good science project for those that love to play with gadgets. Performance is better than expected and faster than my other Tablet. Streaming videos, web surfing, boot up, opening apps are all quite fast. It came with Office 2013 Trial Version as well. Windows 10 seems to be working fine and is not cumbersome even though it is a 7" screen. Hope you have good eyesight because everything is there but tiny. The nice thing is you can stick it in your pocket or purse. That assumes you have big pockets. It fits fine in my jeans. It is not the lightest or sleekest Tablet on the planet but feels solid, has a decent, but not 1080HD display. The resolution is fine for my taste. 800 X 1280 @ 53Hz is the maximum. Intel Graphics with 32 Mb dedicated memory and 507Mb shared memory. I won't be playing games on this but some reviews show it is at least capable of rendering 3D with some older games on low settings at acceptable but not fast frame rates so if you seriously want to play some 3D game you just might be able to. It is capable of streaming games videos etc. over a Wireless LAN. Perhaps hence the name "Stream 7"? The cameras are something from the surplus bin going by the specs and it is definitely not geared at high end photographs. But I don't need that. I'll be ready when I see Bigfoot. First I have to figure out how you actually take a picture with it. Hmmmm, note to self. So far I have hooked up an external keyboard just to check out the OTG cable and it works fine. Mine has 4 ports and cost $10.00. So I would say overall, you cannot beat this thing for price and performance. You get a full blown Windows 10 PC on a 7" highly mobile device with perfectly acceptable and I would say better than expected performance considering the limited hardware specs such as only 1Gb RAM etc. For this money if you don't like it just throw it out. You probably spent more than that on dinner last night. But I'm going to be keeping mine. Go on the web and see the reviews. I'll bet if you got this far through this review and the web reviews you are not going to have a choice except to buy this thing. Be warned.
