I have owned a pair of these for 5+ years. The ear foam started to wear out & I was not expecting to be able to find the exact match. They work great and are comfortable over my ears. When traveling on a plane, I also love that I can insert ear plugs, then use the headphones to really keep out the noise.
The sound is very good. Perhaps not up to the sound of the $300 Bose, but good enough. The noise silencing is really very good, and the headsets are reasonably comfortable with glasses on, better without. The electronics are in a separate piece attached to the cord, which dangles and has no method of attachment. Requires 2 AAA batteries, rather than the more usual one.
The comfort of the headphones on my ears and they fit snugly.
The batterys for the noise cancellation install in a box in the cord. The LED lights up confirming that it's turned on (and batterys are properly installed). But the weight does provide a slight but constant pull to one side of the headphones. Very noticable when the cord is swinging.
I bought the headphones to allow me to work in noisy environments and they worked great with music, but without it, they were just ear warmers. Moreover, I had to return the first pair because the one ear died when i turned it on(and I did not abuse it at all). The second pair died on me four days later out of no when. Returning them too without an exchange this time.
The sound quality was great. I have a very basic integrated sound card, and these headphones were able to pick out individual tones that other headphones within this price range couldn't. Had it not been for the fact that the flimsy wiring caused the sudden disappearance of the sound in the right earphone, I would be singing Maxell's praises. Bought these headphones in August. Here it is Christmas day, and I now have useless headphones. Bah, humbug!
I bought it because I think Maxell is reliable, and it's Noise Cancellation. After testing, I can still hear people talking beside me. The sound come out doesn't balance at all. So I don't give any star :-(
I had the exact same experience that catman55 did, the Maxell Full-Sized Noise-Canceling Headphones, HP/NC-II, worked fine for 3 months, then one side went dead. It's too bad because for the money, the noise cancellation and comfort were OK, at first. Don't buy this product.
I am a dialysis patient and sit for about 5 hours getting treatment. It is usually very noisy in there so I wanted the noise canceling headphones. I purchased the Maxell HP/NC II headphones and they worked fine for about 3 weeks and then one side went dead and never worked after that. They were not dropped and I kept them in a canvas bag. They were purchased as a gift to me so I did not have a sales slip. I would guess the wiring is real cheap. Too bad but I would never purchase that product again!
The sound quality is terrible. Music sounds muffled with no treble. They sound more like $5.00 headphones than $50.00 headphones. There is SOME noise cancellation, but not much. I doubt they'd be much help on an airplane or train. I bought them online and now I need to schlep all the way to a store to return them. They're just junk.
