The fuse-a-shade kit was the perfect solution for my oddly shaped window. I had previously installed a ready-made white vinyl window shade, but it contrasted too starkly against my window valance. Using the Fuse-a-Shade kit allowed for a truly custom look. A previous reviewer complained that the material would not fused to the shade. I did not have a problem with this at all, however, I followed the instructions exactly. The instruction sheet was rolled inside the cardboard roller tube ... difficult to locate and difficult to remove ... I used a wire hanger to carefully remove the instructions without damaging the tube. The cardboard tube can be trimmed to meet your exact window requirements. My husband used a bandsaw to precisely and carefully trim the tube to the width that I needed. Whatever your method, do not damage the ends of the tube because you will need to insert the roller mechanism into the tube when installing your completed shade. Fusing the fabric was time-consuming, but well worth the effort. I worked on my WELL PROTECTED dining room table, used a steam iron, pressing cloth and a clock with a second-hand. The roller mechanism works wonderfully and just as smoothly as my expensive, custom made shades. I'm VERY PLEASED with the end result, and would absolutely recommend the Fuse-a-Shade kit.
I bought 4 shades. They came in a timely manner, With no instructions. The fabric would not iron on to the backing. Had to put just the fabric on the roller. My husband and I figured them out pretty easily. But they were supposed to come with instructions. Curtains turned out.. o.k. only... Lots of money for what you get.. not a happy camper
