I realize it is early to rate the product, but if it only lasts a month I am out $9.00. Have had about two weeks. So far I have LOVED it. It froze on me today, but I think the more apps you add, the more vulnerable any computer becomes. I don't think it's the phone that was the problem. Anyway, product is as described, picked up without a hitch, and has worked wonderfully. Will do again when looking for my next phone.
I bought this phone for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas and she loves it! I chose the free shipping option and I still received it less than a week. This was such a great deal because I paid just over the amount it would have cost $45 (for the plan alone) for the phone and the plan! Essentially I paid $10 for the phone with this offer! The phone works great and it gets great service on the Verizon network. It runs on an older version of droid software so the Google Chrome browser and some apps won't work but that is the only downfall I have seen with this phone. The factory browser that is installed works just fine so I still give it 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!
For $54, this refurbished Android with included $45 airtime card is a great deal. Ascend Y has limited storage, can only install 4 or 5 apps and there are many to choose from! It comes with Google's NAV (GPS), threaded text messaging, decent camera and camcorder. Google ties it all together so you need a Google account. Bright touchscreen, good volume and speaker phone. Easy to use. The battery does drain quickly as with any smart phone, but you can buy spare batteries for a few dollars and it charges quickly. I love Ascend Y and can recommend as a starter smartphone.
Very happy with my phone! Had gotten the slider phone when I first began with straight talk because the area I work at the android did not work at the time. I have not had any trouble with my straight talk service and finally broke down and upgraded to this phone. I highly recommend it! You can't have but a few apps but that is no big thing for me!
All the features and a great price and no contract. Couldn't find a better deal. Employee very helpful. She was working alone and people were waiting. You need more than one person working in wireless dept at night. I've heard it's the most profitable dept. Why not give those folks some help.
This phone is perfect for someone as a starter smartphone or for people who need talk, text and email but don't have a lot of money to spend. It does everything you need, and has some really cool features as well, like the FM radio. However, do not expect an iPhone or Galaxy or Note type of memory capability, as the trade-off for the low price is a much smaller RAM, or random access memory. You will not be able to run the full Facebook app, for instance, or large file games and so on. Some web pages will exceed memory capacity and shut the browser down, and downloaded apps need to be moved to the SD card to conserve internal memory as much as possible. If you just need a basic smartphone with with good communication ability and email and web browsing, I would highly recommend this phone, but if you want games, full social media function, and need to run several apps at one time like an iPhone or something, you will need more memory, and will have to spend more money. Camera is adequate, has auto light sensing, but no flash, will take videos.
I really like this phone so far, I've just had it about a week. The only thing I have found that is a little problem is the battery life is short. And that is likely due to me not having some settings right yet. I ordered a cover with the phone and quickly found that it made the phone lose the signal so I don't use it. For the price - $45 unlimited phone card and the phone for just under $60 - this is a great deal for a smart phone.
Not the best phone in the world but at the price your paying, what's there to complain about? Basically a free phone with $45 card! Bought this for my 13 year old daughter as a starter phone and I think it works great.. Thanks Walmart for giving me an easy way to chat with my daughter at a reasonable and affordable price since I'm not clinging to her every second anymore.
I bought this phone/Smart Talk service(30 days) to replace my Verizon phone and plan . The service ( 30 day card) cost $45.00 on it's own , and so I got the phone for $9.00 . This is great !!! My last Verizon bill was $85.00 with limited talk , 250Mb of data and $.25 a text . This unlimited talk,text and data . It's running on the very same towers as my Verizon phone . The phone it self is very basic and limited in its memory , ( although you can add a micro SD card )( it came with an 8 Mb micro SD card) . But it works fine for calls , texts and a pretty fast internet .
I purchased this phone because of the low price. My husband already had this phone, but dropped it before he had a case and screen protector for it. He used it with the broken screen until I found this refurbished one. It works just fine for his needs. It is a low cost touch screen semi-smart phone with a very good camera. We try not to spend much on his phones because of where he works, the environment tends to ruin the phones no matter how careful he is. If you just need a phone for calls, text, pics, email some Internet and Facebook this phone should be fine for that. If you want to run a business from it you may want to spend more $$$.
