I love to create audio on my ipad, but the one USB-C outlet limited what I could connect to the device. This Hyper product allowed me to connect my midi keyboard, headphones, and output video, so it's a deal for the price.
I love what Hyper has done with their products, but after having used iPad Pro extensively for over 4 years, I've found two distinctive and different uses emerge, and only one of which supports a tablet-attached hub. If you are using your iPad predominantly on a desk surface in laptop mode, attaching a hub directly to your iPad might work (although the thought of all those suspended drives and cables is still disturbing). For any uses not on a desktop, hub attachment is a pain, promotes damage to hardware and data, and makes getting out from under your iPad really difficult. My recommendation is a cabled experience, leaving the hub off of your iPad - even more than the 10cm most hubs provide, so that the spaghetti mess that inevitably occurs is out of the way of the iPad's use. A few hubs actually allow the user to add a cable length of their choice - these are best.
I needed the Hyperdrive to work with the projector in my classroom. It would not.
It charges, and can read a USB flash drive, but the HDMI port does not work. I've tried different cords but got the same result. Tried a different USB-C with HDMI out hub and it worked like a charm. Very disappointing since I purchased this to be able to share my display during meetings at work.
