The Compact Weekender is my favorite "purse". Being a senior citizen, I have to carry all the trappings attached to old age, if you know what I mean. One must be prepared for ALL occasions and that calls for a large bag. The cross body strap is great for security. Keys and phone have easy to reach exterior pockets with secure zipper closures. Pocket for my water bottle (for my cute little pill cases). Lots of interior mesh pockets for easy retrieval of my wallet, grocery lists and medical cards and paperwork. I am now up to 8 of these very versatile size bags. Love them and so many more of Vera's creations.
I picked this bag up hoping it would work well as an air travel personal item. I am a frequent business traveler (both short commuter flights and international flights) and have been frustrated to find it harder and harder to fit bags under the seat in front of me due to seat mechanics, bars, etc. I wanted a bag that consistently fit and, being a traveler who prefers to never check a bag, wanted one that would allow me to maximize internal space. So many bags are broken up into pockets - reducing overall space, increasing weight, and making it a game of 'hide and seek' anytime I need something. This bag has solved all of that for me. I bought this in Lilac Medallion first for a personal flight and fell in love with it on first use ( a long direct flight from central USA to Hawaii). Since then (about 10 months), I use it whenever I can. The trolley sleeve is well done and makes the full bag quite stable and easy to load and unload from roller luggage. I'm quite satisfied with the capacity - mine often carries two laptops, two sets of power cords, toiletries, small electronics, snacks, and a medium size packing cube of clothes. In order to more easily bring it on business trips (where the colorful pattern may be a bit much), I recently picked it up in black and have also picked up the Lighten-Up version (waterproof and contains a padded laptop sleeve) that I intend to try for an upcoming international trip to Asia. The only draw backs I have for this bag are: (1) I wish the bag had at least one discrete internal pocket. As I said earlier, I love that this bag generally leaves the internal organization up to the user, but a small internal pocket that is solid and not mesh would be very useful (2) the strap on the standard compact weekender is padded, but not significantly. Plenty for a short trip, but I would hesitate to take it on a trip where you expect to pack it full and then carry it by the standard strap.
I love this bag. It is the perfect size and has a lot of storage pockets. Some of the reviews said this bag sagged because there was no hard bottom, but it does have a hard bottom that makes it sturdy. I would buy this again and will definitely be purchasing some for gifts. 5 mesh pockets, 2 zipper pockets on outside, cup holder pocket, and I love that it has handles and a cross body strap! Perfect for everyday use or an overnight bag. I waited for the Itsy Ditsy pattern to come out and I'm so glad I waited! Perfect!
Love the smaller size; great for short trips. The Foxwood pattern is lovely (pretty Jacobean pattern outside; and fun, whimsical woodland animals inside). It's large enough to double as a purse and overnight bag, but compact enough to use as a carry-on for flights. The convenient outside pockets allow for quick retrieval of ID, water bottle, etc. I'm also hoping to use it as a laptop case/purse when traveling offsite for work.
Perfect airplane tote, and I've been looking for a long time. Holds everything, even a pocket for the iPad. Has an over the shoulder strap and handles. Small enough to fit under the seat. It's light enough to carry fully loaded. Has a cuff that fits onto the roll-aboard.
I recently came back from a week long trip and this bag was perfect! I wanted a bag that could fit under the seat in a plane if the overhead bins were full but still be large enough that I could use it as my only carry on luggage. This was everything that I've been looking for! This bag was small enough to be considered a personal item by some of the stricter airlines too as long as I didn't overfill it. I am going to get another one of these bags in another color! I love this bag style so much!
This is a good size bag. Plan to take on board plane (or cruise ship) for my essentials like medications, glasses and phone & tablets plus chargers, cords. Enough room for a change of clothes too just in case my luggage is delayed or lost. Has happened twice to friends this year! Love the butterfly flutter print, sorry it's being retired.
I used it for the first time this last weekend. It fit under the plane seat easily and I was able to access my items during flight easily. I liked how it had compartment pockets inside, so all my stuff was organized and not at the bottom on the bag loose. It sits on top of the suitcase easily, which is nice for navigating crazy airports and the city.
Love the bag - especially the size. Only downside is the pad on the shoulder strap; it's too thin and it slips very easily. I may try to sew it in place.
I took this bag as my carry-on for an international trip. I liked the compact size yet it fit a change of clothes, as well as sleep wear, medications, and my purse. I really like the couple of pockets in the front for easy access. I like that it has a fabric band in back to fit over my luggage handle. It fit perfect on top of my 21" bag. I also like that I can wash this after a long trip.
