We purchased this cooler, because we were tired of packing 2 ice chests on our camping trips and wanted something large enough that we could consolidate to one and have everything stay cold for multiple days. It seems very well built. I thought the interior space would be larger but it seems like it will hold plenty of items. We have yet to take it out and put it to the test, im heading out on a 6 day Turkey hunting trip in 2 weeks so i can update afterwards.
We've been camping for four days at the lake in 90 degree temps and the cooler works great. We started with a block of ice and a 10 lb bag with a mixture of food and drinks in the cooler and by the end of our trip we still had a partial ice block and cold drinks left in the cooler.
This cooler is massive for starters, I get it's a 70 but just wow, and for the size of it (empty) light enough for myself to pick up. After it was filled with food and drinks and ice I definitely needed two people which the handles on the sides works great for. It held ice from a Friday to a Sunday (without a “cool down period”) before it was melted completely, and also fit almost everything I needed for a four-day camp. As opposed to my yeti 35 which the ice melted within the first 24 hours and I had to refill it. Very happy with the quality / craftsmanship of the cooler and plus, it's badass looking overall to boot. I've been recommending all my friends to get one, just because it's such a great cooler for a fantastic price. Just waiting till they come out with more sizes/colors to get another! P.s - the customer service I dealt with through igloo was also phenomenal. This company is really great.
Super excited! The size is perfect for camping and travel in the RV. The red color was a bonus.
This cooler is sexy and it keeps ice like a champ! Took this to yosemite filled with tons of drinks and about a dozen frozen water bottles.....the frozen bottles lasted all four days and the drinks stayed cold...keep in mind yosemite was a perfect 75 degrees all weekend! When i got home i threw this baby in my garage.....where its averaged a nice 90 degrees lately. 8 days later no more frozen water, but the cans were still coldish to the touch!!!!!! Igloo has my vote! Dont waste the extra money on that y3ti brand unless you like throwing $$$ away or youre soooo vain you need to try to impress people with names. Igloo has been around before i was born and they have made a quality product!!!!!!
I bought this cooler for a specific trip last summer. This thing is as beefy as it looks, and very well constructed. It exceeded my expectations on that trip, so let me tell you how well it performed. I filled 3 3-liter and 2 1/2-gallon plastic juice bottles with water and froze solid. I froze all our meats, and some other drinks. Beers were chilled. With all the other stuff, the cooler was pretty full. Cooler was packed @ 1am, left @ 4am, drove 10 hour, and spent that night in a motel. Met our transportation the next morning @ 6:30, drove a couple hours into the woods, and spent 5 days/4 nights canoe camping. Cooler was in the canoe all day, in the sun, although it wasn't extremely hot, in the low 80's. Off the river on day 5, packed up, and on the road @ 12:30, got home around midnight. The next morning, the 3-liter jugs still had chunks of ice in them, and everything that was left in the cooler was still ice cold. So 5 stars from me on this cooler's performance. Just purchased 2 of the 24-quart IMX's, can't wait to put them to the test on the two river trips I have planned.
Great cooler. I love having it strapped to the swim platform on my boat. The ice doesn't last 5 days long in the direct sunlight but it does very well considering it's price point.
I am very impressed with this IMX 70 cooler. The first thing I did was a complete ice retention test. Igloo has stood the test of time and this IMX does not lie. To start I filled the cooler to the brim with ice. After eight days in the summer heat on my deck which faces west, there was still ice in cube form in this cooler. The avg temp was 85F to 95F outside durning the day. The avg temp Inside the cooler was 32F to 34F. Definitely worth the price compared to other models on the market. Thank you Igloo for keeping up to your name and putting those others In the dust.
Replaced my old igloo sportsman which rode in my pickup for 6 years with this beauty. The IMX has great ice retention and airtight seal tried to drain it with lid closed and water barely came out once i opened the lid the water drained quickly. Love the red color definitely reccomend this cooler and love the cable handles instead of rope like a yeti. Buy one you wont regret it
I put ice in it on Friday and it's now Tuesday and it still has the same ice…much of it has melted but it still has a good amount fully formed still
