After a health alert last year, we had one of these meters used on the ambulance. I really didn't think we would be able to get one that worked as well as this does. This meter is great to spot check the blood oxygen and the pulse rate. It is very lightweight and portable. There are directions for easy download and use. It has the USB cord and even a handy slip over the neck cord to wear for such times as training or running and any other activities. This unit is available on the App Store, and Free Health App, Cloud Account. The start up guide and manual are included and easy to manage. I would strongly advise everyone to have one on hand and use.
I love this tiny device. I had to charge it for about 30 minutes to get a full charge (USB charger included), then I pressed the only button on the device (on the surface of the device). I squeezed the end of the device (it opens up like a duck's bill) and placed my fingers into the open "mouth". It clamped down closed on my index finger (no pinching), when I stopped squeezing the opposite end. Pretty yellow green numbers begin to calibrate my pulse, blood oxygen level and volume of blood flow. So cool. After a minute I got my reading. I am as healthy as a horse. I could not stop looking at the lights. So pretty. Compact, lightweight, cute...love it. Comes with a manual and usb charging cord. It also comes with a carrying cord (lanyard) long enough to wear around your neck or wrap around your wrist several times. Would definitely recommend this iHealth Pulse Oximeter to everyone especially EMTs, paramedics, doctors, nurses and everyone in between. It syncs via Bluetooth to your smartphone for continuous monitoring. Just download the free iHealth SpO2 app for that. A free iHealth cloud account is also included. Of course it's compatible with iPad 3rd Gen, iPod touch 5th Gen, iPad mini, iPhone 4S and many other smart devices. Find the list of compatible devices at www.iHealth.com/devices. The device shuts off by itself (no off button) when not in use. Press the center button again to get it back up. The reading is quick. No batteries needed.
Bluetooth connected to my iPhone and iPad with no effort, and as I use both I found that all my data is on both. No effort on my part, they keep both up to date. The Oximeter is very well built and looks very good. The readout is very visible and instant. The app is free from Apple and I'm able to keep a history of time stamped info. Very simple, easy to use. I'd highly recommend this.
iHealth Wireless Pulse Oximeter I have been using a pulse oximeter that I bought from Walmart for over five years as a result of COPD diagnosis and three hospital stays for pneumonia. It measures two things: 1) Pulse Rate (in beats per minute) and 2) the oxygen saturation level of your blood (otherwise known as SpO2) The iHealth model measures these two areas also but adds a third: perfusion index. Perfusion index is an indication of the pulse strength at the sensor site. The PI's values range from 0.02% for very weak pulse to 20% for extremely strong pulse. To get this third rating the monitor needs to be synchronized to a free downloadable app from iHealth installed on your cell phone. There are apps available for both Apple and Android phones. The phone is synchornized using the blue tooth feature of your phone. (The box my ihealth monitor came in mentions Apple but not Android. If you have an Android phone simply go to the google apps area and you will see the iHealth application.) (Also, the iHealth app contains the software for both the pulse oximeter and the blood pressure monitor.) Having said all of that - I am personally and primarily interested in the oxygen saturation level of the blood and the pulse rate so I don't check the perfusion index very often (but am glad it is there.) What I really like is the fact that no replaceble batteries are needed. No AAs or AAAs. The battery is rechargeable. You get a USB cable - one end plugs into a USB computer port and the other to the monitor itself. Right out of the box - the instructions tell you to charge the battery for 3 hours to begin with. Do I recommend this monitor? Yes, unless cost is an issue for you. Walmart has other models that will provide the first two measurements for less money.
My spouse used one of these after his heart surgery, to monitor the oxygen level in his system. I worried about the fact that he didn't use it any longer since he came home from the hospital. With this new Oximeter, we are able to continue to monitor his levels and keeps us comfortable with that knowledge. I would recommend this to any person that has health issues. Just download the APP to your smartphone and you can track your reading anywhere. All the instructions are simple to follow and easy to use with your bluetooth on the smart phone.
I was very excited about getting to try this product through the Spark Review program. My husband and I are both senior citizens, 58 & 63 years old. He has a heart condition and I suffer with respiratory infections throughout the year. Being able to check our oxygen rate is crucial at times. I also have a fast heart rate at times and am required to monitor it frequently. This would also be a great product for those folks who are able to do cardio workouts or Zumba. The unit was quickly charged by plugging into a USB port on our computer. It required only 3 hours of charging. The unit is easy to use. Just insert a finger, push the power button and within seconds you have a digital reading that is easy to read. I checked my heart rate with my blood pressure machine also. They were both reading the same. The unit is comfortable. It is lightweight and can be easily carried in my purse. It also has a free app which can be downloaded on any phone. I have not used the app yet but plan to in the future.
If you are looking for a pulse oximeter that can be integrated with the iPhone and iPad, this is the one for you. (Your iOS device should be version 5.0 or larger and you will also need a Bluetooth 4.0 low energy BLE.) I don't have either one of these so I can't get the full benefits of the unit. The iHealth Pulse Oximeter is a very easy device to use to measure your blood oxygen saturation, pulse rate, perfusion index. and can be charged on any USB port. I have been diagnosed with cold-weather and exertion asthma and thought this device would be a great way to watch for problems such as drops in my oxygen levels. If you have an iPhone and/or iPad, you can sign up for the iHealth MyVitals app which is personalized for you and keeps track of your readings from the iHealth Pulse Oximeter plus other iHealth devices such as the wireless blood pressure monitor, wireless smart glucose monitor, iHealth lite wireless scale, wireless body analysis scale, and more. If you don't have access to your iOS device, the pulse oximeter will store up to 100 readings until you have access to your device again and the readings can be uploaded to the app. If the readings exceed 100, the oldest measurements are overwritten by the newer ones. The only problem I ran in to was the cord that attaches to the device has no instructions for installation on the device. I finally figured it out, but it was a little bit difficult.
I received the IHealth Pulse Oximeter as part of the Spark Review program. when selecting the item for review, I did not glean the "I" as being part of I Phone or I Pad, etc. So, when I received the IHealth Pulse Oximeter and realized this fact, I was a bit beside myself. With further investigation on the web, I was able to find an app that works with Android phone or tablet, which I have. The next issue was the description of the Parts and Display page. I think the diagram needs to be of more contrast to be able to see it clearly. Also, I would like to see definite indicators of the ON button and where to plug in the USB port. THAT was quite frustrating as the place where you do plug it in, is not marked and I was not sure that it was correct or that I might damage the appliance. VERY shoddy in terms of instructions, I must say. So, it did work, but as one is often excited to try the new toy ASAP, one must wait 3 HOURS for the IHealth Pulse Oximeter to charge up and it cannot be used when it is charging. ONCE it is charged, it does measure my pulse correctly, but not so sure of my SPO2, but that could be due to my low blood pressure, which is listed as a reason in the manual. Also, I found it took a bit longer--maybe 30 seconds--to get the SPO2 reading to stabilize...just FYI. Once you have readings, it is quite easy to upload onto the cloud once you have downloaded the app and set up your account. A worthwhile investment for those who like to track such information...though you do get the medical disclaimer in the instruction booklet. ;-)
I got this I Health pulse oximeter because I am a Respiratory Therapist working in a Health and Rehabilitation Center . Having a small , easy to clean oximeter is very helpful and handy ! I have used this oximeter almost 2 weeks, at work before writing this review. It works well when patients / residents have good profusion *( which can be said of any oximeter as they are profusion dependent) . It also has the built in ability to trend oximeter and heart rate readings. This is not a feature I am using as I am taking up to 75 pulse oximeter readings a day on various patients. I can easily clean this between patients with sanitized clothes . It has a nice slick surface so any ink or 'crud" that gets on it easily cleans off . It is very light weight . I has rechargeable internal batteries It charges via a cable to the computer. It is nice not to worry about batteries. I have used this at work for 2 weeks on one charge . This is one is perfect for personal use and also very helpful in a health care setting.
I got the IHealth Pulse Oximeter for my elderly Dad as he has lung issues along with COPD and he needs to check his O2 levels frequently. I thought this would be the perfect product since it measures your blood oxygen saturation AND your pulse rate. Not only is the pulse oximeter easy to use, it also comes with an LED screen that provides an easy to read display and a Low Battery Indicator that lets you know when it's time to recharge the lithium-ion battery. An added feature of the oximeter is it can be used in conjunction with the free iPhone app but not to worry, for those who are not as tech savy, the oximeter can be used as a stand alone product.
