Delivering powerful, Ultra-Quiet performance, the InSinkErator Evolution Excel 1 HP Continuous Feed garbage disposal features advanced technologies that effectively grind even the toughest food waste and make far less noise while doing it. The Evolution Excel garbage disposer features a heavy-duty 1 HP Dura-Drive Induction Motor for quiet operation and long life. SoundSeal Technology delivers Ultra-Quiet performance, making it possible to have a normal conversation by the sink while your kitchen garbage disposal is working. It uses anti-vibration technology, sound-reducing insulation, and a special quiet collar sink baffle to block noise from coming up through the sink opening. SoundSeal plus reduces disposer noise by at least 60 percent compared to standard disposers, while handling more volume and more types of food waste. MultiGrind technology provides 3 stages of grind rather than 1 stage like standard disposers, reducing food scraps into even smaller particles. An Auto-Reverse Grind System feature automatically reverses grind direction, ensuring grind elements wear evenly for longer disposer life. With a 1725 RPM motor and Continuous Feed, the powerful Evolution Excel garbage disposal handles large amounts of tough waste like Corn husks, bones and melon rinds, and a Jam-Sensor circuit automatically increases torque to break through tough jams. A large 40-Ounce capacity grind chamber allows you to dispose of food waste right into the sink, keeping the food preparation area clean and reducing the amount of bagged garbage. Built rugged, the stainless steel grind chamber and components provide superior durability and protect against corrosion. This InSinkErator garbage disposal has a patented Quick Lock mounting system for easy installation and replacement of garbage disposers. The Quick Lock mount is completely compatible with all InSinkErator models. When it's time to upgrade or replace, simply twist off the old mount and twist on the new one.

This thing is a beast. EXTREMELY quiet (almost can't tell it's working) and very strong. I installed this unit as I completed a kitchen remodel replacing a 1/2 horse model. Attached it to a Koehler cast iron apron sink and an air actuating button through the countertop. I don't think you can have to much disposal. I don't think there is anything that we can't put down it. We used to have problems with the smaller model clogging up with potato peels and other vegitable peelings. No more. I watched a video of someone putting whole pieces of fried chicken in it while talking about it. No raising of voice needed. Effortlessly just ate everything up without even trying. Truly is an amazing disposal. Zero issues or complaints. I can't imagine it being any better. Expensive but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for. Worth every penny.
The Insinkerator EXCEL -4A fitted perfectly and easily onto a 25 year old Insinkerator mounting ring. The only difficulty I had was my misunderstanding of a new feature on your Anti-vibration mount. This feature is not described or illustrated in your installation documentation either online or with the disposer. (See your step 24 in my attached photos) Your new mount includes 3 three protrusions in the metal stamping as shown in photo #1. The tapered shape of these protrusions suggested to me that they were to guide the Anti- vibration ring into the sink’s mounting ring. It took me an hour to realize they don’t and they worked very well when I realized their function. When the 3 protrusions are all touching the sink mounting plate as shown in photo #2, the disposer is properly aligned with the sink-mounting ring. The disposer-mounting ring can now be turned as shown in your step 24.
This unit is so quiet you can't even tell if it is running. The plumber had no issues installing. He said it is one of the best garbage disposal out there. The only issue - it is very large under the sink. Will only be able to store a few soap, dishwasher detergent, and spray cleaners because the unit takes up a lot of space. (See Picture) But I can deal with it.
I bought this with the intention of having a plumber install it. Our old one (20 year old Kenmore) was leaking and very noisy so it was time. I hate electrical and plumbing work around my house as i'm not good at it. It was too small of a job for a plumber to give it attention so i pushed it off for weeks as we were having other work being done at our house in about a month and i knew that team would be able to do it. We then moved out our major work for a few months and i kept looking at the box and finally decided to dedicate a Saturday to do it. I evaluated the existing plumbing and I needed to replace a few pieces to make the new one fit. I took a picture of my setup and went to my local hardware store and they helped me get what i needed. Back at home, I watched the Insinkerator video on the install and went at it. I took out the old including the sink ring, installed the insinkerator complete assembly, hooked up the new plumbing, reconnected the wiring, flipped on the power at the fuse box (no tripping so immediately a great sign), went upstairs and filled the sink (no leaks so another good sign). Then the moment of truth. I flipped on the Insinkerator and it was so quiet that I honestly didn't think it turned on. Its a very low hum. I had a few food scraps at the ready and threw them down in it and whoosh they were gone quietly. I was amazed how easy the entire process was, how much quieter this one is and also how effective it is at bigger jobs like pizza crusts or even lemon rinds. It rips right thru them. I kick myself for not doing this as soon as i got it delivered!
Purchased the Evolution Excel InSinkerator many years ago with zero problems during that time, so purchased another for my Assessory Dwelling Unit garage conversion. Purrs like a kitten and goes great with my other stainless steel kitchen appliances.
Just wow we remodeled the kitchen and I didn’t want to put the loud cheap disposal back in. With the new sink we only have a single drain so I wanted the best under my sink. hard veggies like broccoli and carrots are no match and it is super super quiet. This disposal is pricey but I knew it was gonna be worth it plus it has the warranty. I need to put glass doors on the sink cabinet to show the thing off. It kinda sucks that it’s hiding all the time
Let’s face it folks, builder’s grade product is what it is. That would be the Insinkerator badger 5 disposer and other brands very similar. When our Badger 5 unit failed under warranty, Insinkerator was quite accommodating to make things right. With an accommodation from Insinkerator, we opted to get their top of the line, Evolution Excel product; wrapped in stainless steel. What is inside really matters! This unit features auto-reverse in the event of a clog, heavy duty 1hp continuous grinding performance, ease of installation and overall good looks! It also comes with a 7 year, in home warranty. The disposer is very quiet even under heavy load, yet just loud enough to remind you to turn it off. A superior product and highly recommended!
Upgraded to Evolution Excel when remodeling the kitchen, great disposer, cannot stop it anything we have put in it has been devoured. The only set back is the rubber baffle that fixes into the sink drain is a bit tight and causes water to drain slowly from the sink.
There is nothing NOT to like about this unit. I have installed dozens of garbage disposals in my line of work and this one gives the most bang for the buck, with features that matter. Quiet, stainless steel chamber, dual stage grinding will eat small bones (but I don't put them in it), removable rubber stopper allows me to clean all of the gunk that builds up around the rings inside (this is HUGE in my book). There is no easier way to clean a disposal inside and keep it odor free! This unit has been installed in my house for at least 18 years and still looks great, inside and out.
We have used waste disposal unit for last 20 years. This new unit is the most silent version that we have ever used. However my wife thinks there is a tradeoff in terms of the rate of flow of water. But overall the installation and operation of the unit is very simple. I feel that by not including the switch and wiring with such a high end unit, it is really annoying for the customers. I had to order the switch and then discovered that even the wire and power unit was not included so I ended up placing 3 more orders to complete the required setup.
