8 Qt is enough to cook for a large family! I also use it to steam red beans in 30 minutes, very convenient!
I've pretty much switched to Instant Pots for much of my cooking. They are wonderful for practically everything I do in the kitchen. The 8 quart, because of its size, is useful for cooking for a crowd. A good sized roast or medium brisket can be accomplished in a short time. Boiling a large batch of pasta or pressure cooking few whole squash is a snap. It's also great for slow cooking and sautéing, as the size of the opening allows you to reach into the pot. The 8 quart seems to cook hotter than the other puts and so experimentation is called for, things won't take as long to cook. The company stands behind their products and is easy to contact and talk to. In this modern world of menu driven robot phone services this is a breath of fresh air!
I love this. My daughter recommended it to me, and I just recommended it to a total stranger who asked me about it. I can make beef stew in no time at all, and the meat comes out incredibly tender. Cooking (and peeling) eggs is a breeze. Cooking rice is foolproof and I no longer have to clean the stove when the rice boils over (every time for me). I can hardly wait until I get a chance to try one of those little cakes in it! Clean up is wonderful, altho I still haven't gotten the screen thing off to clean that. I'm a little disappointed in the accompanying recipe booklette. The instructions on some things are confusing. With vegetables, do I use steam or pressure??? It needs re-editting.
This mini Instant Pot is perfect for making yogurt and for us as a couple. It was a super price too. Love it!
I love my instant pot. I have the 3 quart because it is just me. I make beans, stews, soups, roasts, ribs, and chicken. Sometimes, I wish that I'd bought the larger size, but this really is the perfect size for me.
Love the machine except had some problems with the quality control. Pitting in pot, the welding on the lid detached, and the thermostat malfunctioned. All the problems were promptly taken care of by Instant pot which I appreciate. The only function that does not work well is the slow cooker function. WAy too slow. I still use my All Clad slow cooker for that method.
I like the 3 qt mini. It works well, and cooks small batches of foods well, such as boba and oatmeal. It took me a while to get used to the mini's controls, because I have had my 6 qt for so long. But that's not a big deal.
I love my IP, but the inner pan is somewhat BOWED at the bottom. When you pour oil in to Sear/Saute, all the oil runs to the edges of the pan, none stays in the middle equally as I would have expected it to. It makes it hard to cook equally and evenly NON-STICK if the oil runs to the sides of the pan and nothing stays in the middle.. Other than that i think It is a great asset to have!
Loved my first IP - but it stopped working after 5 years - got 2 new ones and 1 suddenly stopped working (Sauté feature)
Difficult to use. No videos available for my particular model. Keep Warm light always on. I'm not sure when it's cooking or just warming. FRUSTRATING!!
