Perhaps had I bought this first I might not have purchased two of the IQAir HealthPro filter systems. With this monitor I know when the air is bad and therefore need to turn my filters on. Our summers have fires and our winters usually have pretty serious inversions where the air really gets bad, but this year so far we have escaped these bad inversions and with the monitor I have been able to not run the filters thereby significantly extending the filter lives. I seriously would recommend the Air Quality Monitor to anyone concerned about the quality of the air in their neighborhood and in their homes. Without this, you are just guessing. Buy this first and use it to help you decide if you really do need your air treated. If the readings say you need help, then I enthusiastically recommend the Health Pro Series filters. Super easy to use and provided valuable info into how our cooking without using our exhaust fan was giving us really poor indoor air quality. We saw air quality at unsafe levels from normal cooking. The exhaust fan really makes a positive difference. Outstanding real time info.
The IQ AirVisual Pro is a big step up from similar price range competitors. It is a professional product with clear and quantifiable data, while other products I have tried seem to be for residential use or just checking in to generally see if air quality is "good" or "bad" or somewhere in between. With the AirVisual Pro I am creating a report that documents how the health of new housing my office is constructing out-performs other homes in our area, including those we have built in the past, when certain steps are taken and materials excluded. The data upload process is a little tricky, but mostly it's tricky to translate the data once you are in excel. The other big bonus of this device is that I can set it up in rural places, houses under construction and other locations without wifi and it still collects weeks of data that I can upload later for analysis. I couldn't find another similar device with that ability.
Excellent monitor that accurately monitors the indoor air quality including the indoor CO2 concentration, humidity, and temperature. The indoor readings are replaced with outdoor readings, which are particularly useful, and short-range forecast every few seconds..
Perfect for the home if you have little ones. We purvhssed one and have moved it to different rooms in our house to check on air quality. Very reassuring to know our little one's nursery is purified adequately (we have a healthpro plus in his room too).
I recently purchased a Health Pro Plus from IQAir. I keep my purifier in my bedroom and living room because that's where I spend the most time, and I can already tell the difference of the air quality based on my sleeping patterns, energy, and health. But, I wanted quantifiable data to assure my purifier is actually making a difference to the air in my home. That's why I purchased the AirVisual Pro (AVP), it connects to my WiFi at home and gives me real time data on my AQI, humidity, and CO2. When I set up the AVP it notified me that the AQI in my city was 37 and the AQI in my living room was 25. I manually turned my Health Pro Plus on and within minutes my AQI in my living room dropped to 8. I was able to connect my AVP to the AirVisual app so I can track the air quality in my home even when I am away. It's extremely helpful and gives me a forecast of air quality to help me plan my outdoor activities. The monitor also suggest when the outdoor air is fresher and when I should open the door to ventilate the indoor space.
Great monitor! I can set bathroom exhaust fan timer to keep our C02 levels where they need to be. Lets me know when to open windows (or turn up air purifiers if pollen counts are high) by giving me up to date indoor air quality ratings. When it's time to go for my walk, I can quickly check outside air quality before I go. Humidity reading tells me if it's time to turn on A/C or dehumidifier as well.
The IQAir AirVisual Pro has a beautiful, high-resolution display, a refined and approachable user interface, and a usable companion Android app. Human interactions with the device are about as intuitive as possible, given that the device has only four hard buttons and no touchscreen. The companion app is a convenient means of viewing current and historical readings from anywhere, even when the device's screen is off. I have no way of judging the accuracy of the readings, but I will say that the device is very responsive to changing environmental conditions. Strike a match on the other side of the room, and the device's PM readings react as soon as the particles can diffuse across the room to it. Open a window, and the readings immediately begin to fall. I am very impressed with the responsiveness of the PM meter, even when it is not set in "continuous" measurement mode, which I actually haven't found a need for since the default measurement mode is so responsive. My concerns are the same as my concerns with many/most "Internet of Things" devices: namely, that much of the device's functionality is highly dependent upon the continued existence and operation of the company's servers. If IQAir ever goes out of business or decides to stop supporting the AirVisual Pro, then the usefulness of the device will be strongly negatively impacted. I would like to see a proper local API for taking readings from the device directly via the LAN. It could be JSON-RPC over HTTP or even something as basic as SNMP, just some way of triggering the device to take a measurement and some way of retrieving the most recent measurement that doesn't depend on IQAir. I am aware of the Samba server in the device, which is why I didn't give a lower rating, but that's not really an API. My other wish for this device would be to have a single screen where *all* sensor readings are displayed in one place, just as text with no cutesy graphics. The device evidently measures PM10 concentrations in addition to PM2.5 but doesn't display those measurements anywhere in the UI, so that would be a welcome addition as well. I should mention that the first device I received (purchased directly from IQAir) was defective: it powered up only once to a black (but illuminated) screen, and after being turned off, it never turned on again. IQAIr, to their credit, sent me a replacement and a return shipping label free of charge, and the replacement has performed like a champ.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only comment I have is hat the AQI for my location is not the same as the city i live in. It's slightly different and when I look at the map I cannot tell which station is being represented on my monitor.
This unit is pricier than others that I looked at, but the display quality and ease of use make it worth it. It makes a great tabletop or nightstand item, and being able to take it elsewhere on battery power is extremely handy. I just wish it had more metrics, and even the "continuous" readings lag a little, but otherwise love this product.
