Real nice tool to have
No problems so far, easy to set up... Ordered more sensors
I purchased this alarm system for my daughter about 2 weeks ago. She is living alone for the first time while attending law school in another state. The system is very easy to install and it took hardly no time. We tested to see if the alarm actually worked. My daughter received all of the alerts claimed by the product in real time. You just download an app to your smart phone and you are all set. This system is a great alternative for someone who is renting. Most of all, it appears to more than do the job and is economical because there are no monitoring fees. She feels safer and I am more at ease.
Easy set up, works exactly as described.
Works as advertised.
The iSmart package was easy to install and now is almost fully operational in my home. The instructions are easy to follow as long as you have a iPhone. One thing that could have been better is that Walmart did not have any individual components to expand the kit. These extras had to be ordered from another site. I do like the fact that I no longer pay a monthly fee to an alarm monitoring company.
Guys and girls, the device works as it should. Pay attention to detail when you read the manual, I made a lot of assumption. Theres an update coming soon, its only going to get better. Below is why I give it a 4, and requests I submitted to the iSmart Alarm folks, check out their forum. - Push notification and maybe a chime of some sort for the Motion Sensor? (maybe its there but I missed it) - Other IP camera support. - Siren options for different tones, maybe volume options? - Remote Tag buttons are upside down. The way it faces on you're keychain doesn't look right. - 60 Second wait for alarm is too long, but they claim it will be updated in the next update. Once this cleans up, its going to be a beast of an alarm system.
The system is not loud enough to scare any one out of the house, the remote control look and feel chip, the door and windows sensor are very good same with the wall sensor. The cube is nice and easy to hide but you must have it in a good place to even hear the siren or the activation of the alarm. I will prefer to have a panel that will said arm, disarm and home with digital code. You must have the system next to your router or purchase a wifi extender with port to locate the cube where you desire. In my case I want it in my bedroom so I have to spent $60.00 more when this cube can be wireless. The app is ok it doesn't give you notification when you arm or disarm the alarm so every time I go home I trip the alarm. Love the idea don't like the result so far. Price is to much to replace or by more sensor. Also one remote die and the app show full battery.
I own a GE system used by the alarm monitoring systems so I have a reasonable comparison. My GE system does not connect with the iPhone since it's an older system -- the GE is basically a noise maker. With the iSmartAlarm, it gives you mobile/iphone connectivity which the older systems don't have. iSmartAlarm pros: * iPhone connectivity and push notification * see the status of alarm sensors * no monthly fees - unlike other services, this is completely self monitored through your mobile device. It will send you a push notification or give you a phone call and cycle through each subscribers phone. These worked well. iSmartAlarm cons: * main con for me is that I had difficulty navigating the app - there is safe mode when on will send you a push notification even when your alarm is disarmed; this is defaulted to ON out of the box. Intuitively you will not want any notification when disarmed, so make sure to turn it off. - when I turned off safe mode, I didn't get any notification on sensor triggers (without delay). This confused me a lot and seems like a bug since I expected a notification at that time. I tried it multiple times. For now a workaround is to have it in safe mode if you need that level of notification. * audible features on alarm is weaker than the GE. It doesn't tell me that when armed and a sensor is opened that I have a grace period to turn off the alarm. Overall if you want to save a monthly/yearly fee, this is a good option. The software/usability in my opinion could be better, but I would suggest using safe mode (at least for my level of comfort) for now until it's fine tuned.
Terrible alarm system. Poor quality and poor design. App that you need on your phone to run everything was terrible also. The actual "siren" part of the alarm is so soft/NOT LOUD you can't even hear it from one room to the next, and certainly nobody outside the apartment/house would hear it. I bought a different alarm after returning this and it had the same decibel rating but for some reason was FIVE times as loud. So go figure. Returned it immediately after opening and seeing the quality and functionality, which was poor. Also, buyer beware, if you return it, you will pay for both return shipping and the original shipping which is upwards of $40 total (I bought it directly from their website because of a special deal they had, so big mistake there) $40 down the drain with nothing to show for it. Look elsewhere. If you do buy it (DON'T!), at least check the return policy carefully before making your purchase...in case you have the same experience as I did.
