I purchased 2 pair of these for one of my car has a excellent quality sound, then I purchased the same set up for my other car. I used to have the gti crossovers and these are so close to that quality, I am a electronic freak and I love jbl they do make great speakers, after all they been here for long time,
Does this set come with the unit and there tweeters in there picture?
Just installed these speakers today in my SUV and loving every bit of it. Highly recommended.
I bought these 3yrs ago now, and they are still just as clear as they were, i have them on a soundstream stealth 1000.4 amplifier, have since day 1, pushing about 90w to each one, highly recommend these.
I have only the front doors powered with these. Back doors have no speakers, yet. I powered them with an entry-level Alpine HU. Now i am powering them with an Edge 2x200W RMS in 4ohm and 2x350W RMS in 2ohms, and i can say YES, these speakers handle 200W RMS. I did powered them with max 175 W RMS, but no doubt to receive extra 25W RMS more. if you amplify them on a normal 70-90W RMS amplifier they will not sound at best, not the loudest also. I did powered with a Sony 4x75 W RMS and did not get much performance. Bass is okay, not the deepest, but still my whole car body vibrates, especially the roof. Doors are fully sound deadened (bitum+absorbtion) + interior door panels fully sound deadened (bitum+absorbtion) Tweeters are LOUD, with a bit too crips for a soft dome (in my opinion). if you leave tweeters on 0dB, they will equal the woofer, but if you use them +3dB from crossovers, they will play loud. Sound quality is very good, this also depends of your headunit settings, but the speakers have nice sound. I've head some other JBL GTO's coaxial in a old car 10cm front and 20cm rear, powered them only with headunit and were sounding like a disco club. In my last car i've had some JBL Club (or CS) Components, can't remember, less powerful than these 609C and was very happy with them, being powered only by headunit I've purchased the JBL GTO 609C hoping to receive much more improvement than the last ones, but i don't really think it's worth double the price. I see these a bit expensive for what they offer, maybe if the Bass was much deeper and fuller they would live up to the price. But if you use a subwoofer to keep these speakers as mid-range + highs, would be not so good value for money. These should not need a subwoofer, but they do, even the smallest 16cm subwoofer could bring much improvement. Overall satisfied.
Installed these to replace broken stock units in a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. Had to fabricate a plate to make them fit, but these are one of the only <3 ohm units out there for a reasonably close match. Compared to stock units, these deliver deeper bass but far less detail (virtually none) and are boomy sounding. Not even close to sound quality of original units which is a disappointment. I expected much better sound.
