The actual fish you get will be Josh's Frogs' choice, dependent on availability. Recommended Enclosure Size: The minimum aquarium size for a pair or trio should be five gallons. Larger groups can be kept in aquariums of 10 gallons or more. They especially relish planted aquariums. Temperature: Daisy’s ricefish does best when kept in the mid to high 70’s. Acceptable temperature range is 72-80 degrees fahrenheit. pH/Hardness: A generally neutral range is best for Daisy’s ricefish. They can tolerate slightly harder and slightly acidic water. Anywhere from 6.0-7.5 is ideal. Size: At the time of sale, Daisy’s ricefish will be at least 0.5” long. These fish stay quite small and only reach a little over an inch in total length as adults. Age: At the time of purchase, Daisy’s ricefish will be at least 3 months of age. They can live for 3-4 years in aquariums if cared for properly. Feeding: Daisy’s ricefish are omnivorous and not fussy, accepting most dry foods that will fit in their mouths. They should have a quality community flake food as a staple, maybe with the addition of spirulina or veggie flakes on occasion. They will also relish small live and frozen foods, like baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and microworms. Color/Pattern: Young Daisy’s ricefish are a golden color with bright reflective blue eyes. As they mature, they gain some red in the fins, which is more prominent in males. Males also have a bluish iridescence to the body. Social Behavior: Daisy’s Ricefish are not necessarily a schooling fish, but tend to display best in groups. Males will show off to females daily and multiple males can be housed in the same aquarium with no issue. Having six or more in an aquarium is ideal, but you should have no less than a trio.
