It seems a lot of people have had a problem with theirs, so I don't know if I'm just lucky, but I've had mine over a year and use it almost daily. Surprisingly, it has had no long-term negative effects on my battery, as I have experienced in the past with other after market chargers. I have to unplug it every time I leave the car (power keeps running to my socket even with the car off) and it still fits snugly and makes a great connection every time. If you buy one and it doesn't work for you, I strongly suggest you exchange it for another because I'm happier with this one than with any other car iPhone charger I've tried.
I purchased one of these for my iPhone 4S and it works as well as I expected. Every once in a while, the jack plug-in is a little loose, but that is likely due to my aftermarket 3-socket adapter. If I use this in my truck, straight into the lighter, everything is fine. I've had it 4-5 months now. In fact, I'm planning to buy a 2nd one for my wife's phone.
Doesn't work. Plugged my iphone 4s in only to see the little red light working just fine, but my phone did nothing. After moving the lighter plug around a little I hear the charge beep and saw the battery icon on my screen... for a full 5 seconds, then went right back to the home screen with no indication from the battery indicator that it was charging. After playing with the plug for another minute I gave up. The only thing that works is the little red led. Guess I went too cheap.
After several uses the connection for the phone broke. Product is trash.
I have an iPod Classic. The packaging on this product says it works with iPod Classics but it did not work with mine (and my iPod does work with other car chargers so that's not the problem). The plug fit correctly and the light was on but it wasn't charging, then when I unplugged it from the iPod the (which had 1/2 charge before being plugged in) the charge had been completely drained. Not helpful at all.
This charger worked well for about 2 weeks. After that, the connection became loose to the point that it would not stay connected to the phone. I guess you get what you pay for.
Used twice then only the light works. Will not charge phones. Pure junk WalMart should stop selling that product.
When I first plugged it into the iPhone it didn't feel right. Hard to mate, then too loose. Would not energize the phone at all. Returned.
