Detailed product description

Good tone in a mandolin is a combination of many small, but very significant, details. One of the most important is the way the vibrations transmit through the instrument. A particularly critical areas is the neck/body joint. If gaps are hidden below the surface, or if the joint itself lacks integrity, the voice of the mandolin will be stifled. Perhaps the most difficult of all neck/body joints is the famous split-lip dovetail developed in the early 1920s. It was created to satisfy the demands of the acoustic engineer to achieve perfect neck/body structural solidity while at the same time allowing the fingerboard to be suspended freely over the sound board of the mandolin. When executed properly the split-lip dovetail provides a step up in vibration transmission throughout the entire instrument. When you punch a chord on the KM-350 you'll feel the mandolin spring to life in your hands as the back vibrates against your chest. The complex neck/body joint is only one of the small but essential details that distinguish the KM-350 from all others in this price range.
