I was able to install without screwing anything into the walls and the extra width was perfect for my large opening.

We bought for our dogs and needed something that didn't require drilling since one wall is brick. Works perfect. Very strong and easy to open and close
I have an abnormally large hallway, as the back half of my home was actually an add on years after the house was built for a hospital bed and wheel chairs to go through with ease. It fits perfectly in my hallway (with an extra piece of I needed to go wider). The installation was super easy (I moved it twice trying to find the best placement for coming in through the back door.) and getting through it is even easier. My 10 year old doesn't have any issues using the little gate latch to come through it. The gate is on spring hinges so it closes on its own behind you. It's just like going through a gate coming into the yard. For those of you who have small dogs or infants, the slats in it are spaced close enough to prevent babies heads from getting through and getting stuck and puppies from getting past it. I love it, it was definitely worth the money. I have children so I am not new to the use of a baby gate, this one is by far the best I have ever purchased and is one I have already recommended to friends who are expecting soon.
Since it's cold out now, we bought this to put in our walk-in shower. It works great to keep our dogs from walking out before we are done bathing them.
Make sure the measurements is the right size as doorway and also quality of product from other consumer.
