The tent was originally purchased as a car cover however for reasons too lengthy to explain, I gave it to my daughter for her back yard and it is being used as a party tent. It was perfect. It is very heavy/ ""Sturdy"" and we had two men assemble it but it is so sturdy that I there is no danger or risk of it flying away. Keeping in mind, I live in Southern California and we have serious drought problems. I am unable to comment about rain. We just used the tent for one of my grand-childrens birthday party's and comfortable accommodated 20 individuals, naturally leaving one side open for access to and from the apartment.
I ordered three of these (Set up in a long row aong a fence line as shelter by the pool). All went together without any prorblems and are of good qualilty. As mentioned in another review, the instructions are incomplete - they end without even mentioning the sidewalls or endcaps. My sidewalls for all three did not have the advertised windows (Which I didn't want anyway - they would never be opened) and they don't quite mesh right with the top cover, but are close enough to not create any problems. Overall a good value, but King Canopy needs some Quality Control at the packing and shipping end (and writing directions). Now I just need to finish strapping them down - Canopies do make good kites :)
With the help of a couple of friends, one of whom was a Boy Scout with lots of camping experience, we had it set up in a little over an hour. Having 4 people, one for each pole, to lift each side was very helpful. I am currently using it to set up a huge estate/yard sale. Planning to use it in the future as a gathering tent for our multiple-family camping trips. Only thing I can think of that might improve it would be a third layer on the windows with screen to help improve ventilation for those times when we use it as a gathering tent for camping trips.
We initially planned on moving to a site where we could host foster children (abused and neglected)in a respite situation; a home where we could provide animal assisted therapy to help with self-esteem and relationship building issues. Because of the chaos in the economic environment we decided to stay put. Among other required projects is building a barn; we needed something to shelter our horses until we get that done. This canopy works well. It will be used as an alternative shelter for our horses and alpacas so we can rotate paddocks. We may also use it to cover hay, as well. When all our animal needs are covered, we will winter store our 93 Miata in it! Thanks for an easy to put up, sturdy and cost efficient shelter!
I converted our garage to a woodworking shop when I retired. My wife is still working part time and was getting very upset when she had to go our and scrape ice off her car in the morning. With the canopy she's much happier. This needs a recommended anchoring method for installation on driveway where you can't drill holes. I put 4x4 treated lumber along each side and the back, screwed the leg brackets to these, and then screwed through the leg bracket and leg so the legs wouldn't slip out. I tried the sand bags you sell and when the wind came up they moved all over the place - these were fairly useless until I added the lumber. I then piled the sandbags on the lumber and everything got though several high wind conditions. I just got a new driveway so wasn't willing to drill holes and I couldn't add the recommended anchors with wires because my driveway is right next to my neighbor.
Hurricane Matthew is almost on top of Savannah Now . The heavy construction is still holds together. This is one tough shed. The Materials are heavy duty and super strong.
This unit is the worst I have ever seen. It is built cheaper than the harbor freight unit I bought, if you can believe that.If I would have done more research on the unit for example on U tube I never would have bought this.I read reviews here and I don't understand how they saw what they did. I bought a unit from Sam's club back in the late 90's and It was AMAZING guess I was expecting something like the unit from back then.
I bought this tent 6 weeks ago it is a piece of junk very up set. In recent years I have bought 5 or 6 tents evry happy with them . this tent is very week not a strong tent at all. The other tent has 2 " poles the new one 1' poles very unhappy
This is the third purchase of this kind of structure both others have done the job very well last at least two years this one is like a toy and isn’t even going to make it through the spring there are no tiedowns it doesn’t fit on the structure properly overall a very disappointing purchase
Found this thing stuck in my woods after all (ALL) the grommets ripped out during a storm with 30 mph wind gusts. Tubing bent beyond repair. And even if I were able to recover it and somehow replace the destroyed grommets, the lightweight poly fabric would likely just fail again. Pay particular attention to the warranty. It DOES NOT cover anything but sun, bird droppings, LIGHT rain, LIGHT snow, and especially LIGHT WINDS.
