I was given this thermometer to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I have tested it on my 2yo son and on myself. This thermometer is accurate and SO easy to use. The two best features are definitely the quick read (under 10 seconds) and the flexibility of the thermometer itself. I was able to take an underarm temperature on my son without taking his shirt off because the thermometer bends - very helpful, especially with a kiddo that moves around a lot! I love that it connects via Bluetooth to the Kinsa app, which allows you to easily document and track temperatures over time. An especially useful thing for telling a clinical provider about the history of an illness. Highly recommend, especially for parents of young children.
The Kinsa quick care thermometer was so easy to set up right out of the box—it only took a few minutes to get the app set up and ready to go. The thermometer reads much quicker than most we've ever used orally (so key for a squirmy toddler) as well as rectally. Our toddler had a fever and the app made it easy to track his fluctuating temperatures as well as see when we last gave him medication. It also gave advice to call the doctor and other symptoms to watch out for. It's nice having one less thing to remember/write down as a parent and we could easily tell our pediatrician accurate temperatures. I'd recommend this for any parent with kids or babies. I received this product as part of the Stellar Products testing panel.
This thermometer is just a basic oral/rectal/armpit thermometer, but it really shines with the associated app. The thermometer itself works like any other digital thermometer. It takes temps quickly and easily and it color codes your results, so there's no guessing: green with a smiley face for no fever, yellow with a neutral face for a mild fever, and red with a sad face for high fever. It automatically pops up in the app and you can log it to the appropriate child. My child's school also participates in Kinsa's FLUency Program, so that allows me to see if there are high levels of flu-like illness at her school. I also really like how it shows COVID and flu-like illness rates in my county (see screenshot.) If I had to change anything about this thermometer, I would make it a little quicker to pair. I was hitting the power button several times with nothing happening, I thought I received a defective unit. It eventually turned on and paired, just took a minute. Overall, I would definitely recommend this thermometer! Thank you to Stellar Product Panel for providing me with this thermometer!
I received this thermometer from the Stellar Product Testing Panel at the perfect time. Our family was exposed to COVID-19, so we were all taking our temperature a lot! I thought the thermometer worked very quickly, which is a major plus with small kids. I loved that I could track everyone's temperatures over time within the app. No more finding notes on scrap paper when the doctor calls and getting records mixed up! It is convenient that the app gives temperature ranges for fevers depending on the body location at a given reading as well as age of the person being measured. I also love that you can track when medication was given within the app. It gives me peace of mind that I will have it written down when I give medication to my children when they have fevers in the future. I do think that the thermometer should more clearly state that if it is used rectally it should NEVER be used elsewhere. This is stated in notes provided by the company, but you need to read through all the literature links provided to see that. Something this important I feel like should be more obvious during the setup process. The other slight negative I have about the product is the storage bag. I wish it would have came with something a littler higher in quality. Overall, I would recommend this thermometer to others, especially families with multiple children. The added organization/note taking ability within the app wins this family over!
I was given this product to review as part of the Stellar Product Review Panel, and LOVE it as a medically complex mom with a frequently sick child. This thermometer is a game changer! It is so incredibly easy to set up the app. The app is intuitive, and makes it easy to connect to your child's school. The thermometer itself is modern, small, and incredibly accurate. I compared the temperature to other thermometers that I trust, and got consistent temperatures every time. I love how easy it is to track your child's temperature using the app. It gives you good advice, and checks to see if there any other symptoms that would be alarming. My kids also loved setting up their avatar pictures. This will be replacing my other thermometers for sure!
My 3-year-old hates getting her temperature taken so I got a forehead reading thermometer, but as an ER doctor I know they are not very accurate. When she saw the little elephant video that plays to keep your kid entertained while the thermometer it taking the temperature, she was the first to stand in line to test it out and now will happily get her temperature taken. Also, this thermometer is super quick! So quick in fact that said elephant video barely has time to run before the result comes. I also like the soft tip and small size for travel. I'm very happy I got to try this our as part of the Stellar product testing panel and it is my go-to thermometer now.
My two year old breaks down into tears anytime she sees a thermometer whether it's mouth, armpit or forehead. Somehow, this handy, little thermometer has helped calm some of her anxiety! Creating a profile on the Kinsa app and seeing the temperature come up on my phone was very exciting for a toddler! As a mom, it's comforting to know we have an accurate and reliable thermometer when my little ones get sick. While the temperature reading is not immediate, it's quick enough for a 2 year old. You also have the option of taking the temperature under the arm, orally, or rectally, which makes this thermometer useful for the whole family! The Kinsa app was nice, specifically for my daughter's interest, but I'm not sure how much I'll continue to use it. I prefer simplifying, and don't know that the app has enough benefit to warrant another app on my phone. Additionally, within the app there is a meter that tells you the levels of illness in your area. This is a neat feature, but it can cause more anxiety than needed. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the thermometer itself, but the app seems unnecessary. Thank you to Stellar Product Testing Panel for gifting me this item!
Get one. It is great for the whole family- kids and adults. Wet quick to read a temp and the most accurate thermometer I've owned. You won't regret this purchase.
My favorite thermometer, works great and love the app.
Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with the Kinsa QuickCare Smart Thermometer. It arrived just in time—my 3 y/o came home from school with sniffles so I quickly and easily set up the free Kinsa app on my iPhone, created profiles for each of our 4 family members (complete with cute icons to help easily distinguish us from one another), and simply turned on the Kinsa QuickCare Smart Thermometer to sync it with the app. My 3 y/o prefers an underarm reading (she's past rectal and not patient enough for oral—this thermometer lets you select which location you used to measure the temp), and she loved watching the cute elephant cartoon blow bubbles during the few seconds it took to register her temp. The green display on the thermometer made it easy to know she was fever-free. My favorite part of the app was being able to record her symptoms and see real time advice on what to do next (monitor at home, call a doctor, etc.). As a pharmacist, I was impressed and agreed with the advice given by Nurse Blake, the app's resident medical expert, each time we used the Kinsa QuickCare Smart Thermometer—I'm sure a non-medical professional using this thermometer would be happy with the advice as well. All 4 of family members in our home have tried the Kinsa QuickCare Smart Thermometer this past week (luckily no fevers) using either the oral or underarm method, and we were pleased with it compared to other thermometers. Overall, I liked the Kinsa QuickCare Smart Thermometer: I feel like the readings were pretty accurate (I compared it to other oral thermometers and it was always within a degree of those) and it was easy to read the large display. I expected the little plastic zipper storage baggie to be flimsier, but it's held up over the past week. However, the Kinsa QuickCare Thermometer wasn't perfect: the “stem” portion is flexible, so to keep it in your mouth you must use your hand to hold it there because the “bulb” portion is pretty heavy. I wish there were a few more options to select in the app when recording symptoms. The tiny on/off button on the thermometer itself is kind of sharp and uncomfortable on the fingertip. And while I found the app to be easy to navigate, if my parents purchased this thermometer, they wouldn't choose to use the app because they aren't interested in that feature, so I'd say it's not a selling point for all consumers. But if you're looking for a thermometer that does more than just register a temp, definitely consider purchasing the Kinsa QuickCare Thermometer for a next-level tool in your medicine chest!
