I've had this for almost a month. It replaced a 4qt crock pot, a rice steamer and a yogurt maker. I have used most every feature except the stir tower. The only thing I would change is I wished I had purchased the next size up. Love everything about this.
Love the cooking, cleanup and everything about it. I was not disappointed and I'm really particular. I hate getting appliances that fall short or have little somethings that they don't tell you about that would make you not want it. This is exceptional.
My son bought this for me as a gift. Best gift ever! I have used it several times already. It bakes, simmers, boils, steams, and you can work it like a crock pot! The clean up is quick and easy, and the pot hold quite a lot! It's simple to use, and the best part is my house doesn't heat up the way it does if I use my oven. I love this kitchenaid product.
I am a slow/rice/multi-cooker skeptic. I've had great experiences (Sanyo), annoying experiences (Sanyo having discontinued the inserts for my ancient rice cooker. C'mon people you build these things to last, let me have a new insert!), and outright miserable experiences (Aroma with two utterly useless multi-cookers.) So I ordered the KitchenAid with fingers crossed because after 15+ years the old cooker was creaking and the insert was shot. Wow. I mean it, just wow. This is some terrific multi-cooker. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, it has phenomenal flexibility, it heats up fast, and once it's turned off it cools down fast as well, so that within 10 minutes of turning it off, I can handle the insert without pot holders. It's fantastically easy to clean, it has a pour spout -- why did no one else think of a pour spout?? -- the ceramic coating is so utterly non-stick that I could chase a fried egg around the bottom trying to corner it. Specifically, I love the sear and sautee settings. Other cookers promise those features without remotely delivering, but the KitchenAid does exactly what it says it will do and does it well. The first thing I made in the pot was Salisbury steaks, and the sear on each side took exactly 3-minutes and was beautifully caramelized and crusty, and added great depth of flavor to the finished product. I can't wait to try caramelizing onions in this thing. The only drawback for me is that I'm finding the controls a little counter-intuitive. I keep thinking I've set the thing properly and can walk away, but I'll come back an hour later to stir and find the light flashing. It's on, it's hot, but the timer isn't counting down. It's a small thing and it's up to me to learn how to set it. I love the retro look of it, as if it's been sent forward in time from some mad scientist's lair in the thirties. All things considered, I think I can uncross my fingers now.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new candy apple red multi cooker. I've just made stew, apple cinnamon oatmeal and rice in it so far. It's very attractive and easy to clean. Once I made the stew and had a chance to use various settings, I totally get how it works. Only issue is I cannot find the matching stir tower. Having that would make this perfect. Please anyone can help me find it?!
Works like a charm with great ease! I am looking forward to the stirring arm accessorie. I have not received that yet. My only concern is that the insert pot is already chipping and I only use plastic utensils. I will monitor as the days go by. I use it twice a week, so I will know soon if the chipping stops.
I’ve had this KitchenAid all in one for a year or so and love the function. Unfortunately the bowl insert is painted and the black part is wearing off. The machine works great but looks horrible
On functionality, I would rate a 5. However, I used this one time for Risoto, hand washed the insert with soap, water and a sponge. I put it away and today when I took it out to cook something for Thanksgiving found pitting a flaking. I am going to use a liner, but I can't use a liner when I use the stir tower. I shouldn't have to purchase a new insert, since I just got this in September and used it only once. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid
I was very excited to buy the Multi-Cooker and the Stir Tower less than two years ago, but I have used it three times because of a fear of food contamination with a man-made polymer. I had read the reviews that commented about the cooking vessel chipping, but I assumed those people must have used metal tools for stirring or serving. I own only wood or silicone spoons and spatulas, so I thought I'd be ok. The cooking vessel chipped on the first use at medium heat. I don't understand why they don't just make a stainless cooking vessel. This was such a disappointing purchase.
Hi i bought this on amazon and had such high hopes. i use only kitchen aid silicon utensils with this product to prevent scratching the ceramic pot. Unfortunately the product comes with a metal lid which has scratched up the pot badly. It also comes with a metal steamer basket that scratches up the inside of the pot. This product is no longer functional for me as i don’t like using scratched or knicked cookware for heath reasons. The inside pot needs to be replaced.
