I have a spiralizer that you turn by hand, it works fine. But boy does the Kitchen Aid Spiralizer beat it by a mile!!!! It makes every veggie uniform in size since it turns down it's track with even and consistent pressure vs. the kind you turn by hand which can vary. This has become my go to, especially with summer's fresh veggies! The different blades are easily changed and they all work smoothly. My only negative on it is clean up, the little blades and cutting edges can be a bit tricky. But you will have the same clean up with any spiralizer you use, at least this one saves you time on the actual spiralizing end of it.
Usually when I by an attachment for something it ends up requiring lots of time to put together and then clean afterwards. This attachment was awesome! It was very easy to install and the clean up was a breeze. I have used it almost everyday since I bought it.
I bought this spiralizer because of the Kitchen Aid brand's reputation, and also for the ease of operation. With a family of 5, the small hand crank spiralizer a weren't an option. We have been extremely happy with this purchase. The kids love for us to peel apples and let them eat the peelings. They say it's better than candy!
I love my kitchen aid spiralizer! I have been spiralizing weekly since I received this great accessory for Christmas. Not only is it fun and easy to use but it is a great way to incorporate more vegetables into my kids diet. Even my very picky daughter has taken an interest in cooking since I started using it and she is actually eating vegetables. I love the slicing blade feature as well. You can whip up a fresh apple tart in no time at all.
I bought this several months ago. I use to have a manual spiralizer and every time I used it I had veggie parts that I could not use. This attachment spiralizes the entire veggie easily and fast, it doesn't matter if you spiralize a zucchini or a sweet potato.
I just purchased the Spiralizer attachment for my tilt head KitchenAid mixer. I acquired the attachment to replace a stand alone portable plastic spiralizing slicing unit that functioned but was very flimsy in construction and a pain to clean. The Kitchenaid unit is quite impressive as all the parts are built to last as they are mostly metal. To date I have used the spiral blade on yellow and green squash and was truly amazed at the simplicity of the task. The vegetable noodle that is produced is textured nicely and quite uniform. Thus far the only limit I have found in using the tool is that the produce needs to be six inches or less in length in order for the device to function properly allowing enough clearance for the screw to turn the blade assembly through vegetable or fruit. Additionally I have used the larger slicing blade to thinly slice red beets that have been trimmed with the ends cut flat. Great outcome for salads as is or for steaming should one want to make beet rings. Currently I have cut three different varieties of apples and been greatly impressed with the peeling tool that uniformly removes the skin while the apple is sliced and cored by the additional slicing blade attached. This will make slicing apples for pie such a breeze! Another major plus is the ease of clean up. Mostly the key parts are removable consisting of the skewer base, peeler and or spiral or slicing blades. They easily twist off or lift out or can be removed by depressing a small lever. Once removed they can be easily washed, dried and then replaced on the unit or placed back into their slick storage package ! An exceptional addition to my family of bakers from a great family of Kitchenaid products.
I purchased the KitchenAid 5 Blade Spiralizer With Peel, Core and Slice. In the three weeks since purchase, I have used it everyday. Vegetable spaghetti to preparing apples for freezing; the uses are endless. Clean-up is a breeze. An essential attachment for your KitchenAid cuisine.
I bought this to upgrade from my hand cranking spiralizer that I have used for a year. It is very sharp, very fast and quite easy to clean. I use it at least once a month and it saves me time as I make zucchini noodles for around 20 people each time. Looking forward to using it for many other menu items!!
I initially bought this spiralizer attachment mostly to make zucchini noodles. I had been using a small manual tool, but it took a long time to make enough for two people. This tool is easy and uncomplicated to use and can make a big pile of zoodles in just a few minutes. I also was pleasantly surprised at how little waste there was. Now that it's fall, I intend to try the slicing and peeling blades on apples and potatoes. The small blades just slide into the carrier and pull out for cleaning when finished. Easy peazy!
I have a Manual spiralizer but decided to buy the KitchenAid attachment after surgery on my right arm. However I am very disappointed with the Fine spiralizer attachment as there is no difference between the cut of that and the Medium attachment. I contacted Customer Service and they sent a replacement but it made no difference. If I would of known this I would not have purchased since the Fine spiralizer attachment is the one I use the most. I compared the attachments between the Manual and KitchenAid model and the look pretty much the same so not sure why it doesn't work. KitchenAid should fix this issue.
