This is a must if you make pour over coffee everyday as I do. I usually let the kettle come to a boil and then let it cool to the ideal coffee temperature setting. The temperature gauge shows in red the ideal coffee temperature, so it's extremely easy. The kettle has rubber feet on the bottom, so I can set it on my counter worry-free. You can set how fast the water pours out which is nice if it's too heavy for you or if your arthritic. I have it set to the middle setting and have no problems. It isn't huge so it stays on my counter, and I am looking forward to also using it for tea and to make hot chocolate in the winter. So much faster and easier than heating water on the stove or microwave. This kettle is a winner in my book! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Decided to go for pressed coffee and required pot for heating water . By the time beans are ground and in the pot, water is hot and ready to go. Handle is comfortable for pouring and pours effortlessly.Great for those who have difficulty lifting. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
- Electric kettles are amazing, and super efficient. Much easier/faster than boiling on the stove! - Gooseneck perfect for pouring, and great for a cup of pour over coffee! - Beautiful design, love the clean look - KitchenAid is a great brand! (I have their legendary stand mixer!) - This is a relatively new item to the market in 2018, and I think it's a winner! *I am writing this review as part of a contest
The best electric kettle I have ever owned! Heats water quickly and has automatic shut-off. And, It looks so good on my acounter!
This kettle is almost perfect. It has all the features you could want when controlling water temperature and flow on the pour for various hot beverages. The kettle shuts off when you lift it off the base so if you're doing a long pour-over, you may have to reheat, but this takes a second is not a inconvenience. The adjustable flow rate is almost not needed because the goose neck allows intricate control which pours perfectly without dripping. The water boils quickly and quietly and a pleasant chime tells you when it is done. The electronic settings are all easy to use and temp control is very accurate. The electronic thermostat and temp gauge in the lid are perfectly in sync with each other if you're boiling a full pot of water; if the pot is half full or less you will notice the lid thermometer will be slightly lower because it is not fully immersed in water. Inside the pot is the same bright stainless steel as the outside and overall it is an attractive and high quality kettle. It is not too big or too small in capacity, perfect for 4-cup servings. It is also fairly compact and attractive in a conventional way. The only thing I would wish for is a right angle electrical plug. Otherwise I couldn't be happier with this kettle.
I received this kettle to try and then review. I have used other electric kettles before and for the most part, those have been very similar in nature. This kettle is very nice, especially if you are a tea drinker. You have the ability to heat your water to the exact temperature that is perfect for the type of tea you are drinking. I also liked that you could set the flow of the water, which to me was useful for making coffee by the pour over method. The kettle was very quiet and boiled within minutes and has a very stable base. I found that the goose neck helped with not having any splash back when pouring. I usually use a French Press for making coffee and for me, this kettle did not boil enough water to fill the press. Mine is 51 oz., so I had to boil water twice for one pot of coffee. The only negative point to this are the steam vents on top, and you can feel the steam while opening the pot for a refill. This pot is very nice, with classic lines, I would really love it if it had a little bit more capacity. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Overall, this is a good kettle with some interesting features, but also has some functional drawbacks compared to other electric kettles I've owned. Pros: + Looks great. It is a nice looking kettle considering it sits on the counter 24/7. The stainless steel shimmers and the gooseneck makes it look upscale. + The thermometer is a cool feature and nice if you're making different beverages to achieve that optimal brewing temperature. I had to pull out my Thermapen on my old kettle. + The handle has a nice grip too it and makes for comfortable pouring + It heats up very fast and is so much quieter than my old kettle. I had to check the first few times that I had switched it on because it was so quiet! Cons: - It's small. Maybe this is more of a standard size, but my old kettle was 1.5L vs 1L capacity and I can really tell the difference, especially if I have company over and making multiple cups of tea. - The lid fully separates from the body, which makes it cumbersome to deal with when filling. My old kettle has a flip lid that was more convenient. A trade-off for the thermometer I guess - The light by the switch is too small and faint to easily see, which makes it less convenient to confirm that it's working - The max fill line is on the inside of the kettle, which requires tilting your head to check vs having a clear indicator on the outside of the kettle [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I received this item in exchange for an unbiased review. First of all, the kettle looks great. Its sleek and shiny, very modern, which I like, and the thermometer doubles as the knob used to remove the lid. Inside, there is a metal slider to adjust the flow rate. It has three settings, and while the two highest are acceptable, I found the lowest setting to be far too restrictive-- it gave little more than a trickle of water-- and very much preferred to leave the slider on the highest setting for the most flow. Other than that, it seems to work as you would expect of an electric kettle. Bear in mind that it is metal, and the outside of the body of the kettle will become hot to the touch when filled with hot/boiling water. In terms of speed I would say it's about average-- it certainly didn't take forever to boil, but it wasn't what I would call quick, either. Quality seems good, as you'd expect from Kitchenaid, and with one single switch to flip it couldn't be easier to use. My biggest complaint is size, but that may be just me. This is a one-liter kettle, and I had a two-liter, so this one seems small. That said it will probably do just fine, depending on how much tea/coffee you make at a time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
We love the product overall but the thermometer stopped working just over a year after our original purchase. This defeats the purpose of the kettle because we like to brew different types of tea that need specific temps.
The kettle is great, but I can't use it for its intended purpose because I work the early shift and wake up at 4:00 am. If I use this kettle to heat my coffee water it beeps incessantly - when I start it, when I press buttons, and three beeps when it's ready. Since I do not want to wake the rest of the family I have to either disassemble the base and smash the speaker (voiding my warranty) or continue using the old tea kettle on the stove.
