I am an artist, and I don't understand why the negative reviews. I have tried all the brands of spray paint and Krylon is the best. The nozzle and spray are the easiest and best coverage....never have splatters like with the other brands. Drying time is awesome. The only problem I have is locating it :( I live in a small town, with the 3 big box stores and they no longer carry Krylon. This is a major bummer, but I am now willing to drive 35 miles into the city to find it!
I really can't understand the problems people had with this paint. I used the Krylon paint trigger attachment and painted PVC for rod holders on my kayak. No drips at all and dried in minutes. Nothing peeled at all. I did about eight coats in a camouflage pattern and it's amazing. It's been exposed to rain and lots of water with no problems at all. I then used it as a topcoat on a wooden motor mount with zero issues. No chipping or peeling. The nozzle never clogged, I turned it upside down and sprayed to clean the nozzle when done. I think the paint is amazing. Wish I could attach pictures. Great product. Sorry most of you had problems.
Using this paint to restore Vintage tools, The paint coats evenly and dries well. After reading the reviews on this paint, i have to say i can't see any flaws with this product. I think the other people who have used this product and left negative remarks don't seem to understand that before you apply this product to something. You have to clean what you will be painting with Denatured Alcohol or Mineral Spirits first. The paint wont stick if what you are painting is covered in crud.
After using Rustoleum and experiencing bad results, I decided to give Krylon a try. BEST DECISION EVER. The nozzle sprays evenly and just the right amount so I never experienced any run or drip, and I didn't have to worry if I was spraying too close. Sprayed 1 tacky coat, then 2 wet coats 10 minutes apart, and let it dry for two days. Then sanded with 600 and I never had any issues with the next layers, in fact the newer coats ended up even nicer. After I sprayed my color, although it was suggested not to, I applied Clear Gloss on top of it the same way, about 10-12 coats (3 per day), and let it dry for a week after the final spray. Then I sanded with 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 grit and then hand buffed and polished. I never thought I could have this finish quality without a spray booth or spray guns. Patience is the key. Also read weather and humidity conditions before you spray, it seriously can affect your project.
Did a super job on my range hood...my landlord thinks I bought a new hood LOL.
I ordered this online because the two local Walmarts were out of this color and I needed some to finish painting some items that I needed to ship to someone. The packaging could have been better. I ordered 9 cans and two of the cans, the caps were crushed. Luckily the cans were not damaged and they sprayed okay. The price was over 2 dollars a can more than what it costs in the stores, which is ridiculous. If I hadn't needed them so bad I would not have paid that much for them.
I just painted a pinewood derby car for my daughter, and put on the first coat, waited close to 30 hours, and knocked off the gloss with some 1500 sand paper, and upon recoat, the whole car turned into a crinkly mess. Now I have less than a week to completely strip the car and start over before the race.
I spray paint for a living and am very aware of how paint receipt times matter very much, as well as all the other factors like cleaning your surface after sanding, etc. I can basically never spray a second coat of this paint without peeling. It blows my mind how they have formulated this paint to make it so delicate to use. There goes 2 days work while I wait for everything to dry, then sand off all the krylon so I can use another paint and wait for that to dry.
I purchased this to recolor some light switch plates. Says it works on plastic. I spend time to prep, making sure the plates were clean with no oil residue. I planned on several light sprays to keep it from running. Nope, no matter what I did it ran. The paint is like water, and doesn’t stick to anything. I tried some other material to see if I was doing it wrong, but nope.... all ran.
Used the gloss gumdrom followed by the gloss clearcoat. Was painting a basswood guitar body & this paint is absolutely worthless. Took months to dry but never did dry, paint melted n peeled off at room temprature. had to sand down to wood & respray multiple times. Directions on can are wildly inaccurate as krylons own "tech support" said to leave each coat 5 days between additional coats at which point it still wasn't dry a mere touch would leave fingerprints. laying it on a surface would leave deep gouges even on a completely smooth surface.
