First off, I love Krylon because I've never had a spray nozzle go bad with this brand. Secondly, I like this sheen of silver - it's not shiny metallic like chrome, but more of a matte light silver, like smooth microscopic particles of silver all over. You will see tiny glittery particles in the air after you spray it. It does not take much to achieve full coverage. 2-3 light coats and your done.
I am refurbishing a wooden stool from my grandmother's vanity and it came out beautifully.
This is the right paint to use when you are looking for a cadmium finish. I use it when I need to get out of a bind detailing small parts on vintage car restorations and works better than anything out there, in the same price range. If you don't have the resources or the time for zinc or cadmium plating, this is the paint to use. Spray it and barely fog it with the bright aluminum paint and you will be happy with the final look.
I have used Krylon Brilliant Silver spray paint for years for my business. The formula has changed and I had to stop buying it and found another brand. The paint looked liked it had glitter in it. It looked cheap It was very disappointing because the original silver spray paint had worked so well for me. I had to go to Valspar.
The positive... good coverage, quick dry time, & a large, easy to push nozzle. Now, the negative... this paint is actually a silver/aluminum color with fine glitter added. It is NOT even remotely close to the chrome-like finish the cap would lead you to believe. It's closer to brushed aluminum. Very disappointed since I was expecting a shiny chrome-like appearance. Krylon dropped the ball on this one.
This paint was not the mirrored metallic as shown. It came out a very bland satin like silver. It also does not hold up well in my bathroom either. The paint has spots on it that will not come off. Very disappointed.
The actual color of this paint is certainly not the shiny, brilliant, chrome-look that the cap indicates. It is more of a matte silver or aluminum. Unless someone put the wrong lid on my can of paint, they misrepresented their product and, therefore, DO NOT buy it if you're looking for shiny.
