I wasn't sure if I would use the extra soakers, but have found them quite useful. I use them at night or during a nap. My 6 mo. old is a heavy wetter and these seem to hold most of the wetness. I have found that the shape is perfect for other diapers should you choose to use them in other brands. They are very versatile. I don't use them on all the time, but they do come in handy to have!
I have been using these liners overnight and so far no leaks. My baby is a girl and about 15 pounds. I don't put the liners in during the day the Kushie diapers are working just fine without.
When using these along with the Kushies Diapers at naps and bedtimes, they are a life saver. I Love the diapers. You save so much money with the kushies and not having to buy all the disposable diapers. Just rinse out and throw them in the washing maching and reuse.
The liners are reasonably priced and incredibly soft. The liners are a little long, but it's handy to fold them doubled up where extra absorbency is needed (up front for a boy). I suppose that you can also use them with Kushies Classic or Kushies Ultra diapers, but both types of diapers have an extra liner "flap" sewn in. I think the liners are most handy with "regular" cloth diapers, like prefolds or flat folds.
I recommend these liners with the Kushies 3 in 1 reusable diapers. They help to prevent leaks. When I first started using the diapers, my daughter had gapping around the legs. The liner helped to fill in the gaps as she is gaining weight and fitting into the diaper better. I use the liners daily.
These are a good liner to go with the kushie diapers or even with the use of prefolds. I usually fold it so it has more protection in the middle for my baby girl. I bought these mainly because I am practicing elimination communication with my baby and whenever she passes gas a little poo comes out so instead of having to wash the whole diaper I just throw the liner in the wash.
These appear to be a few layers of flannel in a good-sized liner shape. In my own crude experiment*, each liner holds about 1/2 cup of liquid MAX, which is just as absorbent as the washcloth I was using. One liner is also only 1/3 the bulk of the washcloth I was using. I only use these at night. It's easy to put in one or two of these liners with the night diaper. Haven't had a leak since. *Crude experiment: fill a liquid cup measure with 1 cup water. Submerge liner in the water for 10 seconds, pull out, and let it drip excess water back into the cup measure until there's only 1 drop every 2 seconds. Measure remaining water in cup measure.
These liners are ok, but I notice that they soak through VERY quickly. I had to change them every 30 minutes or so. I suggest using a regular bird's eye cloth diaper to line the Kushies cloth diapers rather than these liners. They are very thin. However, I do fold them in half and place it where it counts for my infant son. They are very durable, but I prefer using regular cloth diapers to line the Kushies for more soaking power.
These liners are first and foremost very thin. If you want any sort of added absorbancy then you will need to use at least two liners. I put them in my Kushies Ultra during night times. You have to be careful with the way they insert. They are a smidge wider than the actual diaper and you don't want any peeking out the side. They do not, unfortunatly, wick moisture very well so the baby's urine stays right there by the skin instead of being drawn away as it is with just the diaper. After a full night without the liner the diaper is wet but not so that it leaves a lot of excess moisture on the baby, with the liner though the liner is sopping and creates almost a puddle right in the diaper. My opinion is that these aren't totally necessary. I have two packs and they are hardly every used because the diapers do just fine. If I'm very worried about a leak then I just change the baby right before I go to bed and we've never had a problem. If you really want a thick absorbant pad then go with one from a more expensive brand that will definatly give you a lot of OOMPH for just a little more cost.
If you buy the kushies diapers - these are not needed because there is already an insert pre sewed onto the diapers! They are already packed with lining on the inside so I just wasted my money by purchasing these. They are supposed to be for added protection but if the diaper is that wet - it needs to be changed. Even at night the kushies have enough protection. Don't make the same mistake I did - save your money for another pack of Kushies because those are expensive!
