Had a good experience when called mfg with question on where to put outside thermostat. Entire unit seems to be working fine.
would buy again
Works OK, but rechargable batteries leaked, so it
accurate, legible readouts. only way to improve would be to make the transmitter to be able to change batteries.
I hate to jinx it, but so far so good with the La Crosse temperature station. I was reluctant to buy it given the mixed reviews, but I was also tired of constantly changing out the batteries in our old conventional weather station, which was frequent due to the hot, humid and harsh climate of Houston. We'll see how it holds up, but it's already outlasted one round of batteries in our old weather station, so I'm happy with it so far...
The battery compartment was corroded by the battery that was placed in there by the manufacturer. I sent the item back on 12/15/16 and still waiting for a replacement.
Unfortunately, this device flat out didn't work. Most disappointing, especially since I had gotten it for my wife's birthday. She had been wanting a remote thermometer for the kitchen window for some time. The problem appeared to be the receiver unit. We inserted the batteries and the display came up as if it was working. Then about 15 seconds later, the display goes blank and that's the end. We tried several times with different permutations (we even read the manual!), but nothing seemed to work. In the end, I returned it. It's possible of course that this was just a "rogue" unit that somehow slipped through quality control. But you know what they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
